OCTOBER +29, 1975 - TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 15 DRAKE : The funeral of the late Garry Drake, whose death occurred on October 20, at the age of 59, in a Thunder Bay hospital was conducted on October 23 in St. Andrew's United Church, Schreiber by the Rev. E.C. Prinselaar of Th- under Bay. Honorary pall bearers were Stan Kusik, Archie McColeman. Alex Krystia, Gordon McPar- land; George Burns and Art Moorey. Active bearers were Dennis Connelly, Vic Costa, the Rev. Rex Dye all of Schreiber. Joe Kenny of Terrace Bay, Bud Mahoney and D'Arcy McCooeye of Thunder Bay. Interment was in Schreiber cemetery. Mr. Drake's immediate survivors are his wife, the former Margaret Boyd, of Winnipeg, three sons, Boyd of Winnipeg, Bill of Prince 'George, B.C., and David of Brandon Manitoba. Two daughters, Lynne of Thunder Bay and Lori at home. There are also three sisters, Row- ena, Mrs. Arthur McPhee of Victoria, B.C.: Blanche, Mrs. W.R. Mayotte of Thunder Bay and Dolly, Mrs. T.A. Robinson of Willowdale. Mr. Drake was predeceased by his father in 1954 and his mother in 1966. Mr. Drake, who was employed with C.P. Rail as' and engineer, had taken an early retire- ment on June lst, 1975 due to ill health. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a faithful member and worker in St. Andrew's United Church. Among those attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Robinson, Wil- llowdale; Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Mayotte of Thunder Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Drake, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Turpie, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Boyd, Mrs. Arthur Boyd all of Winnipeg; Mr. and Mrs. Dav- id Drake, Brandon; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Drake, Prince George, B.C.; all relatives of the de- ceased. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Craske of Ear Falls and many other friends from Thunder Bay, Nip- igon, Pays Plat and Terrace Bay attended. CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE : The Catholic Women's League at their regu- lar meeting on October 19th decided to incre- ase their donation to Save a Family Plan of India from $60.00 to $100.00 a year. They set November 15 as the date for the Christmas Bazaar. The president, Mrs. Lorette McParland was appointed to place the CWL wreath on Remem- brance Day. Mrs. John Power reported the membership now stands 'at 174 with three honorary members. Mrs. Sanford Chicoine was presented with her past president pin by Mrs. McParland. Mrs. J. Gagnon resigned her position as Christian Family Life convenor. Mrs. Sisson and Mrs. Cebrario resigned as -Cub leaders and it was recalled they have been leaders for 15 years. Replacing them are Mrs. Diane Figliomeni and Mrs. Ruth Ann Birch. The former two packs of Brownies have been converted into one pack and Girl Guides mer- ged into one company. Holy Angels School Open House was held at Holy Angels, Schreiber, on Tuesday, October 2lst. The Parents visited the school between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:15 P.M. and were able to observe their children at work and play and also take part in various activities themselves. The teachers and pupils were very pleased that over one hundred parents showed their interest by visiting the school. This was a very successful venture, and it it hoped that it can be repeated in the near future. C.P.R.
