It was a double celebration, honoring also their father's bi- rthday which was delayed because he was in- volved in the recent election. Mr. and Mrs. John Stortini (Sylvia Harness) and daughter Christina; Miss Ora Mae Harness of Sault Ste Marie attended. Then to the surprise of all in walked Helen Harness of Ottawa. Part of the fun centered around Helen who, just re- turning from a tour of the British Isles and Ireland, received a cheque for $1,000.00 in a draw. All the family, naturally, presented reasons for borrowing some of the loot. A formal blessing was pronounced by the Rev. George Quibell and the ribbon on the door- way was cut by Joe King, representing the town council. By coincidence the fivst customer entering the store was Mrs, Mona McConell, a newcomer to Schreiber. Officers of the Company attending the oc- casion included Bill Breadner, Dealer Divis- ion; Norman Wylie, District Manager; and Al Park, Credit Superviser Customer Accounts Dep- artment all of Winnipeg. ; Each lady entering the store was given a long stemmed flower and all children, treats of various sorts.
