He is the only one to enter Queen's University this year. Jeff Lee, who has been working with the lo- cal Recreation committee all summer, has just returned from a three week course at the Out- ward Bound School in British Columbia. John Scott has returned from his vacation spent in the British Isles and Ireland. Mrs. Inez McKevitt and Mrs. Bernice Jacomb have returned from a holiday in Sycamous, B.C. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Macadam spent their vacation with Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Dejeet, their daughter Sharon and family of St. Johns, New- foundland. They enjoyed many tours around the province and the day before they left for home were fortunate in seeing a herd of whales. Mr. and Mrs. Hatley McKay drove their Dau- ghter Holly and Elda Holland to London to at- tend Western University. There they met Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dunwoody and went to visit in Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa, Niagara Falls, Elk Lake and even managed to take in a three day boat tour of the Thousland Islands. United Church Women's Meeting The United Church Women, at their regular October meeting, changed the date of the Ann- iversary Tea. It is to be followed by an ev- ening service when special music will be pro- vided by the Bell Ringers of Thunder Bay. On October 12th a Thanksgiving service will be conducted by the Reverend W. Gibbons of Nipigon, at 7 p.m. Members wishing to attend the 1975 Confer- ence for Women in Kenora, October 17-19, sho- - uld contact Mrs. Winnie Clemens the Secre- tary for furthur information. : Information was received from the Home Ec- onomics Department, Winnipeg regarding pack- age programs which may be borrowed in tapes or study form for limited periods of time. A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mrs. K. Bowlier for her donation of cutlery. Mrs. Beth Macadam, who presided, chose Th- anksgiving as the topic for the devotional period, with Mrs. Margaret Nesbitt reading the Scripture passage. Mrs. W. Clemens read minutes and corres- pondence which included several thank you le- tters. She displayed and apron sent by Mrs. Barrett of Nipigon, to be circulated as a mea- ns of raising funds. Mrs. Norma Fummerton reported receiving the new calendars, for sale at $1.00 and the Pray- ing Hands pens, also for sale. ._ Mrs. Margaret Spillane presented the finan- cial report and the cards sent for various oc- casions. Following the meeting the home baking draw prizes were won by Mrs. Margaret Nesbitt and Mrs. Myra Holmes. The Halloween contests were won by Mrs. Spillane and Mrs. Clemens.
