Among the American tourists visiting Ross- port Area this week are Miss Kathy Maxson of Iowa City, Iowa; Jeanne Partridge and Mark Ruiherardson and Todd Pulezzer of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Thomas of Minneapolis, Minn. ; Peter Legault was home over the weekend from Thunder Bay. He was accompanied by Steve Scully. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lofgren of Harris, Minn. have arrived to holiday at their camp at Selim Beach. K.M.R. Puthard of Winnipeg, Man. Alvin H. Freed of Tilsonburg, Ont., Mr. and Mrs. Ben Scott of Transcona, Man., Mr. and Mrs. Bland Boulet of Loretteville, Quebec and Mr. N.B. Brown of London, Ont. were holidayers here this week. Mrs. Anne Todesco is a business visitor to Thunder Bay this week. Doctor and Mrs. Robert Spaulding of Mount Pleasant, Mich. have arrived on their annual fishing holiday. They are accompanied by their niece Sheryl Fortman. The local Roads Board met with M.J. Michal- iuk, superintendent for the Department of Transport and Communications on the weekend. Chairman, Ray T. Kenney presided and Ron Lan- igan, sec. treas. was in attendance. The local rate was set at ten dollars per property owner which is the minimum rate. Plans were discussed to improve the conditions on Church Street and the removal of the rock cut at the entrance to the highway on this street. This will provide for the proposed paving of this street in the near future. A discussion was had pertaining to the per- manent placing of vehicles such as mobile hom- es, tractor trailers, etc. on Dock Street. Mr. Michaliuk informed the board that this was not lawful or allowable. Consideration was given towards the possib- le extension of Boone Street. During the annual fishing trip on the week- end the Thunder Bay Dental Association held locally aboard the cruiser Yennek, Doctor George Macy won the coveted Santala Award for the largest trout weighing in at 6 lbs. Ray T. Kenney was the guide. Each doctor took home his limit of lake trout and enjoyed the two shore dinners of freshly caught trout. Those attending were Doctors John Siren, Robert Sari, James Donaldson, Bob Brandon, George Macy, Arthur Sondale, Don Lysak, Bill Morces, Gerry Seaman Kushner and Garry Kushner Mr. and Mrs. Peter Achneepiskum of Pays Plat Mission. He holds moose (and displays) that he carves from a piece of cedar. He carves them in detail even showing the hairs of the hides. He is kept busy filling orders for gift shops and private or individual buyers.
