Following her stay in Montreal Yvonne travelled to Bathurst New Brunswick to visit with family and friends. Terrace Bay District of the Ministry of Natural Resources have a new conservation officer. John Capyk is from Timmins and will reside in Marathon or Manitouwadge. Welcome to Terrace Bay - Ruth and Cliff Poole and daughters Jane and Jennifer. Cliff is with Kimberly-Clark. Jane is at present employed by the Northwestern Regional Library and is compiling the History of Jackfish, Terrace Bay, Schreiber and Marathon. Jennifer will follow her family to Terrace Bay at the end of the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Cvitkovich and family, Debbie, Rose-Ann, Karen and Tommy (Elliot Lake), Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hickerson and family David, Kenneth and Bruce (Thunder Bay), Mr. and Mrs. Lorne McKenzie and family, Kathi, and Craig (Guelph). Reverend Peter McKague wished them well in their new homes and jobs. Two Brown Guiders Marilyn Saranpaa and Pam Jones from Terrace Bay have successfully passed their Maple Leaf training course at Polly Lake camp. Trainers from Sault Ste. Marie and Toronto flew down for the one week training in all I8. Guiders from all across Ontario attended, and a very interesting and friendly atmosphere prevailed with a lot of ideas exchanged between the East and Northwest Ontario. : Brownies in Terrace Bay prepare their garden plot in Centennial Park - Tawny Owl Barbara Wise and a few Brownies went to Centen- nial Park to plant seeds in the Brownie plot. Earlier Brown Owl Myrtle McBride had also tak- en a group to weed and dig the plot in readi- ness for the planting of border plants and seeds. KINSMEN WIN TROPHY Firemen challenged the Kinsmen to a Lob Ball contest for the beginning of Canada Day Celebrations. What a good time was had by all the men who entered into the Lob Ball game, some real expert moves were made on and off the bases. Everyone was in a good humour and some excellent tackling was seen - yes tackling - it wasn't football, but the Firemen sort of got their rules mixed up a bit. They tried real hard to win the beautiful trophy and in the last I5 minutes some fancy footwork was evident and poor Ray Hansen spent more time on the ground than on his feet. He took it all like a good sport and made some pretty weird pitches to the guys who had him tagged as the man who always plays Lob Ball in a horizontal position. : Boy some of those 'expert' ball players really ended up with a dislocated shoulder trying to meet one or two of Ray's fancy pitch- es when they were up to bat. The Kinsmen emerged victorious even though the score sheet showed the Firemen well ahead. Congratulations to Edwin Nicol, a last minute replacement on his 2 home runs and Tony Cvit- kovich on his home run.
