PAGE 20 TERRACE BAY NEWS MAY 7,-1975 LOCAL LABS AT LAKEHEAD KENNEL CLUB SHOW - Tiffin, Yellow Labrador Retriever, Bitch The Lakehead Kennel Club held its annual All Breed Championship Show in the Grandview Arena on Saturday and Sunday, April I9 and 20th Derek and Linda Wills yellow male Labrador Retriever placed second and took Reserve Winn- ers ribbon on Saturday. "praveller" has 9 of the I0 points necess- ary for a Canadian Show Championship title. Having taken a major 5-point win previously. A five-pointer is the highest win awarded at any one time. Champion "Tiffin" the young yellow female Lab of Ed and Rena McAdam finished her show championship title last September, also with a 5-point win enroute to her title. Tiffin took top honours in the Lab class both Saturday and Sunday coming home with two trophies awarded by Birchcroft Kennels for Best of Breed, her Best of Breed rosettes and Best Canadian Bred ribbons. Labs were entered from Ontario, Manitoba and Minnesota and judged by Mrs. Margaret Thomas and John Lundberg, both from Southern Ontario. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY MEETING The Terrace Bay Horticultural Society held a Directors meeting on April 30th at the home of President, Mrs. H. Hiebert. Following the reading of the minutes of the last directors meeting and the correspondence, the first item of business was a decision to sponsor a fund raising project. A home bingo was decided upon and this will begin in the near future. We will also be holding a plant rummage sale on May 3Ist in the Plaza. one has any extra plants or gardening supplies of any kind and wishes to donate them to the Society they would be much appreciated. Because of the difficulty of finding a nur- Tf any it is necessary for the Society to make arran- gements to pick up these plants in Thunder Bay. As a result only people who place advance or- ders will be receiving plants this year. A total of 60 Junior Gardeners registered this year and seeds will be sent for this week. The District Meeting this year will be held in Sioux Lookout on May I7th. Members are en- couraged to attend. ; Plans are underway for a Home Beautification Contest sponsored by Kimberly Clark. More about this later. Premiums (anemane bulbs) are in and will be packaged and ready for delivery next week. A general meeting is planned for June 3rd in the Conference Room of the Recreation Centre A presentation on Trees will be made by T. Dorland. Everyone welcome and bring your ques- tions. Meeting adjourned and a delicious lunch was served by our hostess. MUSIC FESTIVAL TAPE PLAYED FOR CONGREGATION Following the Sunday Service at the Commun- ity Church, Dave Barnett who had recorded the Joy and Hosanna Singers when they had sung at the Music Festival in Thunder Bay, played the tape for the congregation. Photo by Pam Jones SEWING CERTIFICATES PRESENTED A delicious Pot Luck Supper was held recent- ly to wind up a successful sewing season. Certificates were presented to those who had attended 70% of the classes. Instructor for the course was Mrs. Brooks. A group of ladies who had made their own outfits at the evening sewing classes.
