A resolution was passed to hire John Mason as a 4th Class Constable effective July I/75. A by-law amending the Dog Control By-Law was given two readings. (See this issue for by-law notice) . The annual road maintenance program was presented and approved in the estimated amount of $28,000. This amount is subject to subsidy from the Ministry of Transportation and Comm- unication. Under committee reports Councillor Kennedy discussed the complaints he has received from citizens on Kenogami Road on the condition of their driveways due to the water main pro- blems. Clerk Hanley assured Mr. Kennedy the town 'is trying to lift this build up of ice as it melts. Councillor Kennedy put forth a motion to increase renumeration paid to Councillors to $1200 per annum and $2000 per annum for Reeve effective May Ist, I975. This motion was pass- ed and a by-law will be prepared. Councillor Kennedy also reported the Fire lepartment will be allowed to dry their fire r.cce at the Ministry of Natural Resources. Councillor Helmirk reported copies of a by- law on no parking signs would soon be availab- le. As to the snowmobile situation she repor- ted the police department see no need to ban these machines in town. Reeve Bray stated he felt some snowmobiles prohibited signs should be ordered now in case it is Councils decis- ion to place these in certain areas of the town. He asked that recommendations by the police department be submitted by June Ist at which time Council will continue this matter. Mrs. Helmink read the application received in response to the Dog-Catcher ad from Pat Walford. A motion was passed to hire Mr. Wal- ford as dog catcher under the police depart- ment effective immediately. Councillor Hale put forth a motion which T was passed to purchase a spare wheel and tire for the township huff. He also reminded Council that the week of June IS5th is Senior Citizens Week. Program suggestions will be presented at the next meet -ing. Reeve Bray informed Council of a meeting between Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Longlac and Nakina to be held on Thursday, April IOth to prepare a brief to be presented to the govern- ment on what our community needs are. Reeve Bray then introduced Mrs. Fitzgerald of the Municipal Land Assembly. She outlined her position and was very informative as to the development of low income housing and sen- ior citizens units.
