PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS APRIL 9, 1975 HAPPY HOOKERS RECEIVE CERTIFICATES Mary-Fay Green, their instructor, had the pleasure of presenting certificates to members of the Happy Hookers, the rug-hooking group in Schreiber at a recent meeting, followed by a social evening in Gladys Hamilton's home. The Club is sponsored by Confederation Coll- ece, and this is the first time they've awarded . craft course certificates, in Schreiber. The local group, 28 in number, meet every Tuesday evening for two hour work sessions, in a course of 20 lessons taken from September to March. They buy their already stamped burlap mat- erial, for hooking, but they do their own dying of material used in the hooking, with most satisfactory and original results in the color- ing. In addition to rugs they are hooking stool and long bench covers, tote bags, pictures, coasters and hot dish pads for table use. Typical of Schreiber groups age has no bea- ring on the interest, the club having three sets of mothers and daughters enrolled - Marg Kragero and daughter Sandra Quinton, Gladys Hamilton and daughter Joyce Gilmore, Myrtle Gordon and daughter Glorie Miller. Certificates awarded were for completed bas- ic and intermediate rug hooking to Hazel Bail- ey, Flora Bryson, Marcella Cebrario, Lilian Christie, Vieno (Winnie) Clemens, Pat Cook, Mildred D'Arcy, Bonnie Dye, Inge Ellicott, Myrtle Gordon, Glorie Miller, Betty Anne Klass- en, Margaret Kragero, Lila Morrow, Sandra Quinton, June Sisson, Beulah Speziale, Margar- et Spillane, Joan Stewart, Helen Tripp and Muriel Walton. Completed Advance 1 Rug hooking certificates were presented to Joyce Gilmore, Gladys Hamil- ton, Diane Mather, Inez McKevitt and Marjorie Spacek. LADIES AUXILIARY I09 REGULAR MEETING The Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. I09 at their regular April meeting, received an invitation from the White River Auxiliary to attend their 25th anniversary cel- ebration with husbands and escorts included to attend the banquet and social evening. Those planning to attend should notify Beatrice McC- uwaig by April IOth - the evening being on April 26th. Nipigon Auxiliary wrote, saying Maureen Costall had applied to transfer to their Assoc- iation and Schreiber was happy to recommend Maureen. Mrs. Rena Ross accepted the convenership "ANOTHER..."
