PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS NOVEMBER 28, I974 VOTRE ROY BRAY FOR REEVE Monday, December 2nd Thank you for your support in I972. It has been a pleasure to serve you this past two years. It has been interesting and we have made some progress. Over the past number of years, plans were made to develop the extension of Lakeview Drive and Superior Avenue. Since I970, eighty-one lots have been serviced in this area. Most of these lots are already taken. On the suggestion of one of our councillors, council engaged a firm of consulting engineers to advise us and, if necessary, prepare a plan for future expansion. This plan will be available shortly. Kimberly Clark's proposed new mill will certainly create an acceleration of growth. It is important that the orderly planning for this be continued. Our public works department was started two years ago. THis has proved to be a valuable addition and will be slowly enlarged. Two years ago it was pointed out that there was a need for improvement to our sewage system. With careful maintenance in this area, we have gained some time. This does not mean that as our Townsite develops, that the Department of Environ- ment will not force us to up-date our sewage disposal. If you have had occasion to visit our cemetery, I think you will agree that the landscaping and fencing has improved its appearance. More work is planned when funds and time are available. Our Recreation Committee are constantly on the alert to improve this facility. I think you will agree that the building is being well used. No one can deny that it costs money to run this complex. However, what we have here, other communities envy and would like to duplicate --even at today's prices. Another important area is our hospital. Your Hospital Board is planning and making their needs known. It is gratifying to see the support they are getting from so many organizations. For the next two 'years, I feel this project required the ALL-OUT support of everyone in-Terrace Bay, Schreiber and Rossport. TO THOSE WHO HAVE RECENTLY MOVED TO TERRACE BAY: We welcome you as citizens and hope you will participate in all phases of town activity, including exercising your right to vote on Monday, December 2nd. If you are unsure of whether you are on the Voters List, you may consult Lists posted in the Town Office or the Post Office or phone 825-3376. TO THOSE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE FOR THE FIRST TIME: Please exercise your right. Politics at the Municipal level are somewhat different from that of the Provincial or Federal level. Our main responsibility is to administer the affairs of your municipality wisely. This does not mean curtailing expenses to the minimum, nor does it mean being wasteful. What I have tried to point out to you in the foregoing is the progress our town is making, and the problems we still face. I do not wish to accept all the credit for any success nor deny any obligation for any failures. Someone must be in charge who can accept the responsibility and make use of the knowledge of others. Here is where co-operation with individuals and organizations has helped us progress. ON OUR LIQUOR PLEBICITE: *** VOTE as you please, but please vote. I now solicit your vote for 1975-1976. For Progress ~~ Vote Roy Bray re A dad ps ni A A Te
