JULY 24, I974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE I3 Campbell Anniversary - continued Winnie was playing their role in community affairs, in Jackfish, where they lived for seven years and since I94I in Schreiber, and still taking an active part, being a longtime president and other offices in the Women's Institute. Russell Campbell paid the family tribute to their parents, presenting a color T.V. in token of their affection. He then named the family, who in turn with their children, rose and bowed to "Mum and dad": Mr. and Mrs. Russ~ ell Campbell, with daughters Maureen, Laura and Rhonda, of Mississauga, and Lenore of Hearst; Betty, Mrs. Ralph Miller of Tauranga, New Zealand with daughters Glenda and Darlene and Glenda's fiance Gary Bell; Helen, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar LeBlanc of Schreiber, with John, Michael, Bill and Shelley Souliere, and Carole LeBlanc; Marjory, Mr. and Mrs. Hank Prebeshew- ski, with Nicky 'and Tanya, of Westland, Mich- igan; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Campbell of Schreiber, with Billy, Mark and Candace; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell of Schreiber, with Joey, Tammy Cathy, Carrie and Lee Ann; Carol Ann, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Marshall, with Jackie and Kimmy of Paducah, Kentucky. Russell drew on fond memories of childhood years, happy times and small-and-larger - misdemanours, with pointed clues to the cul- prits. Mr. Campbell, in responding, said 50 years is not a long time when they are happy years. He thanked their family and relations who, despite the many miles intervening, had arran- ged such a happy celebration - the friends who assisted, and Mrs. Edna Cocks and her dinner committee. A tiered wedding cake centred the head table and when Joe and Winnie rose to cut it, they exchanged a kiss which Joe told his wife, "was sweeter than the one 50 years ago." In the evening an open reception was held in the high school auditorium when Mrs. J.D. Bryson, who had played the opening waltz at their wedding dance, repeated the number for Joe and Winnie. During the evening Mrs. Daniel Imbeault, on behalf of friends, presented a money tree, with their good wishes. YOUTH PILGRIMMAGE Forty-four students, from Idaho, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba travelling to the United Nations in New York, made a rest halt in Schreiber when they were served a turkey banquet in the town hall, sponsored by the Rebekah and I.0.0.F. Lodges. Accompanying the group were directors Tim Shepherd of Couer d'Alene, Idaho, Yvonne Isenour of Calgary and Helen Knight of Winni- peg. Alvin Slater of the I.0.0.F. was M.C. at the dinner, with Councillor J.S. Caccamo off- ering the town's welcome, and Reeve Roy Bray bringing good wishes from Terrace Bay. Grace was said by one of the students. Also at the head table were Mrs. Lil Harris, Noble Grand of Ruby Rebekah Lodge, Mrs. Mavis Slater, past president Rebekah Assembly and the Rev. Chris Mather. : Part of the gaiety of this annual event comes from the students' introduction of them- selves, with brief sketches of their backgrou- nd, and humourous brags of the importance of their hometowns, compared to the others. They were delighted with the favors at their places, made by Mrs. Beth Macadam. Working at the occasion were Mrs. Macadam, convener, with Mesdames Helen Wallace, Alice Sparkes, Edith Ibey, Annie Niemi, Mrs. Floren- ce Fischer, Eirene Harness, Marion Simon, Dora Weaver and Miss Irene Spicer.
