TERRACE BAY RECREATION NEWS SUMMER PLAYGROUND '74: The Playground program is now into its third week with more excitement and fun still being planned by the staff for the rest of the summ- er. The results of the I0-I2 year old bowling tournament are as follows: Team #4 - Liebrock, Janice, capt. -- 787 points; Team #3 = Bouchard, Raymond, capt. = 656 points; Team #I, Caron, Billy, Capt. - 607 points; Team #2 Gramatowski, Barbara, capt. = 574 points. High score =~ Joyce Kurylo - I75 points; Low Score - Rosanne Cvitkovich - 50 points. Trophies, courtesy of the creative abilities of the Playground Staff and a lot of tinfoil, will be presented to the winners Monday evening Last Thursday night, a successful pre-teen dance was held in the public school gym, with Patty Regis winning the record draw and various couples winning prizes in the novelty dances. There was a lot of rocking and rolling done by everyone there but it would appear that Gary Salesse has taken over Ed Gramatowski's posit- ion as the dance floor marvel. Friday morning, the school corridor, convert -ed to a wild west town, set the mood for the 5 and 6 year old's Wild West Day. Dressed in cowboy and Indian costumes and armed with guns, the kids spent a hard day playing games, rust- ling some of the Lone Ranger's stray cows, rid- ing horseback (the Playground leaders still walk with a slight stoop) having a few drinks at the Soda Pop Saloon, and ended the morning by singing songs around an "indoor" campfire. That afternoon, the leaders were off again, this time on a fishing trip with the 7-9 year old boys to the Mouth of the River. The fish must have been watching from just outside a twenty~-foot radius because not one of them man- aged to get caught by the array of hooks and worms cast out at them, although Roger Theri- ault has a story about a large speckled trout that nibbled his line and got away, and Andre =~ Theriault couldn't make it home until after his hook had been taken out of the back of his sweater. The 7-9 year old girls had a sleeping party in the gym Friday night. There was a lot of laughing and running around but everyone even- tually conked out and went to sleep.' The next morning, the girls went for breakfast at the Imperial Restaurant before collecting their gear and heading home. ART TREK: Once again this summer we are fortunate in having Art Trek come to the communities of Terrace Bay and Schreiber.
