PAGE I4 TERRACE BAY NEWS MAY 29, 1974 SCISSORS UNISEX SALON Following the trend of their generation to- day Frank ané Elaine Muia have opened their Scissors Unisex, a hair dressing salon in Schreiber, a small place where their income may be smaller than in a larger centre, but friends are within walking distance and out- door recreation but a few minutes from one's home, and the cost of belonging to any sport association a very nominal one. Frank is considered a native of the town since he was brought here by his parents when he was six months old, from Italy, growing up and receiving his early education in Schreiber. After working some months in a Beauty Salon in town, Frank decided hairdressing was his forte, and took a course, after which he work- ed in Joseph's in Toronto and then went on to Victoria, B.C. where he met his wife, an En- glish girl, their marriage taking place two months ago. : Elaine is a 'city girl' but after Frank ex- plained the advantages of living in a small place, and owning their own business, she was persuaded, and whole-heartedly entered the venture. Fortunately, for Frank, Elaine is also a hairdresser. And their customers are rather enjoying the experience, for both men and wom=- en, of having their hair cut and styled at the same time. SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS Schreiber Institute members attending the annual meeting of the North Thunder Bay Dis- trict Women's Institute on May I5th included Mrs. Ann Todesco, Mrs. Joe Campbell and Mrs. Winnie Clemens. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Power and family are in Killaloe to attend the wedding of a niece, and will go on to visit other relatives in the area. Among the holiday visitors in town are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cameron and family and Mrs. Pearl Rattray of Sudbury with Mr. and Mrs. George (Pont) Gordon. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hamilton and son Aaron of Thunder Bay with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.Q. Hamilton and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Clemens. Miss Alanna Power, bride-elect of this mon- th, was honoured at a community shower-tea in the Anglican Church hall when she was assisted in receiving by her mother, Mrs. John Power, Mrs. Russell Baxter, mother of her fiance, and Mrs. Bill Mullins. - Mrs. D'Arcy McGuire was dining room hostess and the servitors were Mrs. Albert Courteman- che and the Misses Kathy McGuire, Debbie Cook, Lauri McParland, Jewell Paradis, and Laureen Kusik. Mesdames Arthur Moorey, Harold McParland and Jack Stokes replenished. The gift table was attended by Mrs. M.J. McGrath, Miss Donna McGrath and Miss Anita Power, with Miss Maureen McGrath in charge of the guest book. Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Swanson were entertained at several gatherings prior to leaving for a new home in Calgary, where Mr. Swanson, Supt. of the Schreiber division, C.P.R., has been transferred. Mrs. Swanson was honoured at a tea arranged in the home of Mrs. Wayne Stewart when she was presented with a farewell gift - a pair of original silhouettes, made from clay of Mount McKay. And a staff party, a barbecue, and 'hoe- down' Western style was arranged in their honor when, to begin the party, Mr. Swanson was pre- sented 'with a genuine ten gallon hat. Later in the evening a barbecue with all the newest equipment, and lawn chairs, were pre- sented. The evening ended with dancing, and the usual railroad reminiscing, and wishes for the Swanson happiness in their new home.
