Don: Burton, the president, was M.C. for ore of the happiest occasions of the year, the Minor Hockey Banquet, served to I25 in the Legion. Flanking Mr. Burton were Mrs. Ruth Mulligan, secretary, Mrs. Millie Glad, treasurer, and the following officials = Paul Kendrick, Gary Lapworth, Jody Davis, Justin Martin, Reg Bailey, Joey Figliomeni, Mike Miller, RQy Wil- son, Cosimo Commisso, Jim Mooney, Bill Paradis, Roy Mills, Earl Welbourne and Jack Anderson. Mr. Burton said in his opinion, not dis- counting the triumphs and trophies won this season, the greatest stride was in willingness of former players offering their assistance in recognition of the time spent on them when they played in the League. It was his hope, he said, that while learn- ing the tactics of hockey, the boys were also becoming aware of other values - good sports- manship in both winning and losing, respect for authority, and the ability to recognize and acknowledge a 'good guy' on or off the ice. A presentation of hockey stick was made to Ken McNally, by the Avco team, to which Mr. McNally had contributed funds, the players' names all written on the stick. Mr. Burton, was loudly applauded by the boys, when he ad- jured Mr. McNally to give good coaching to the new, very new hockey recruit, in his family - a son, just born the day of the banquet. Trophies, in appreciation of their work, * were presented to the Peewee coaches John And- erson, Don McDonald and Robbi Mooney. Trophies were awarded as follows: House League Peewee teams: Texaco - M.G.P. Dan Spa- doni; M.L.P. Lloyd Fairservice; M.V.P. Rene Garneau by Jack Anderson. Knights - M.G.P. Brian MacDonald; M.I.P. Paul Mooney; M.V.P. Mario Veneziano by Gary Lapworth. Huskies = M.G.P. Tom Lawson; M.I.P. Stephen Speziale; M.V.P. Ron Speziale by Paul Kendrick. Major Peewee teams: AVCO Flyers - M.G.P. Robbi Mooney; M.I.P. Randy Burton and John Fischer; M.V.P. Lawrence McParland by Roy Mills, Jim Mooney and Ray Wilson. Legion Ban- tams - M.G.P. Barry Glad; M.I.P. John Whitton; M.V.P. Peter Armstrong by Justin Martin. Midget - M.G.P. Shane Riley; M.I.P. Dean Fischer; M.V.P. Bob Smilsky by Co Commisso. The Soughton Jewelers Trophy for the N.S. M.H.L. Peewee championship was presented to Lawrence McParland by Mr. Burton. The Bantam Trophy was presented: by Barry Glad to Bill Paradis. The Chapples Trophy for M.G.P. was presented to Danny Glad by Reg Bailey. The House League Trophy was presented to Rick Parent by Gary Lapworth. The turkey dinner was prepared by the boys mothers, with Mrs. Edna Cocks convening, ass- isted by Mesdames Joy Riley, Rena Ross, Mary Fummerton, Lillian Miller and Irma Armstrong with the Misses Cathy Cocks, Linda Huard, Jayne Davis, Darlene Fummerton, Gaetan Chico- ine, Susan McParland and Rae Sisson as serv- itors.
