WHITNEY APPOINTED REGIONAL MANAGER The Ministry of Transportation and Communications has announced the appoint -ment of Arnott Allen Whitney to the posi- tion of Northwestern Regional Manager, Driver and Vehicles. Mr. Whitney, a resident of Thunder Bay since I945, join- ed the Ministry in 1958 following a professional hockey career that included playing for the' Her- shey Bears, The Quebec Aces and the Victoria Cougars. He has been with the Highway Carrier Sec--- tion of the Ministry working in Thunder Bay, Kenora, Oshawa, and Torontc and was appointed Chief Inspector of the Northern Region in I969 The new Northwestern Region takes in the area from the Manitoba border easterly to White River and covers over 212,000 Square miles. Mr. Whitney will be working with a approximately 40, including a team of cial vehicle inspectors, that will be the safety related mechanical fitness of trucks in the region, on a day-to-day basis. Two district supervisors, one in Kenora and one in Thunder Bay, will be appointed shortly to oversee driver examinations and the regula- tions affecting the highway carriers.
