NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO BANTAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Northwestern Ontario Bantam Champion- ship for 1973-1974 was wen by the Fort Frances Knights of Columbus team when they defeated the Gerladton Bay Beavers 9-4 in the Champion- ship game in the tournament held in Schreiber over the week-end. The Thunder Bay Canadians won the Consola- tion event with a 6-4 win over the short staf- fed Schreiber Legion team in the tournaments final game. The Fort Frances team were pre- sented with the C.W. COX Trophy emblamatic of the Bantam Champions of Northwestern Ontario. Each team member was also presented indi- - vidual crests on behalf of the Schreiber Minor Hockey Association, who also presented indi- | vidual crests to the Thunder Bay Canadians. In Saturdays games Fort Frances dumped Thunder Bay 8-4, Marathon 4 Sioux Lookout O, Geraldton 7 Schreiber 6. The winner went to the Championship side with the losers to the Consolation side. In further games Saturday, Fort Frances I6 Marathon 2, Thunder Bay 6 tournament a success. Sioux Lookout 4, Geraldton 5 Marathon 2. Larry Beck of Fort Frances won the trophy as the Most Valuable Player and Don Cress of Marathon won the Most Outstanding Goaltender award.
