MAY I, 1974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE II THE AUXILIARY TO THE MCCAUSLAND HOSPITAL The April meeting of the Auxiliary was open ed by president Joan Nugent. The Auxiliary were the receipients of a don ation of $100.00 from the Schreiber C.W.L. A hand made afghan donated by Inez McKevitt of Schreiber which is on display at the Credit Union, will be drawn for at the Spring Charity Ball on May IOth. A contribution of a trans- istor radio was received from Doreen's Snack Bar and will be raffled by the Tuck Shop in June. The Rossport Ladies Auxiliary held a very successful Bingo on April I6th and will purchase two over bed tables. These gifts were gratefully received. Two delegates were chosen to attend the meeting of the District Institute on Auxiliary Volunteer Services which will take place on May 22nd and 23rd at the Prince Arthur Hotel. Correspondence included letters of thanks from Mrs. M. McLeod and Mr. Mazzone for equipment provided by the auxiliary for the hospital which was a wheel chair, a commode chair and a hoyer lift. It was decided to purchase an E.C.G. Machine at the approximate cost of $1000.00. A substantial sum was turned in from the sale of In Memoriam Cards. These cards may be purchased from Marj Stephen and Dody Kirk- patrick. Plans have been completed for the Hospital Charity Ball on May IOth and all tickets have been sold. Our next meeting will be May 20th at Lake Superior High School, Schreiber Campus. Please come and bring a friend. CORRECTION The name of Joe Figliomeni was inadvertant- ly left out of the report of the annual meeting of the McCausland Hospital. Joe was elected at the I973 meeting, and is fulfilling a two year term, along with Barry Stephen, Pat Buck and Don Stewart. Newly elected members are Rena McAdam, Janice McEwen, Bernie McCracken and Bruce Tilbury. Appointed members are Roy Bray, for Terrace Bay Municipal Council, Dorothy Rummer, Schrei- ber Municipal Council, Dr. A.B. Adey, Chief of Medical staff, 'and Joan Nugent, Ladies Auxiliary. MINISTRY OF NATURAL RESOURCES TENDER FOR SITE PREPARATION In order to complete part of the implemen- tation of the Silviculture Work Programme in the Nipigon District, The Ministry is request- ing Tenders for a four year Site Preparation Contract. This long term Agreement calls for the following areas to be site prepared on the St. Lawrence Corporation Licence and the Abi- tibi Paper Company Licence: 1974 - 5,600 acres 1975 - 17,100 acres 1976 - 8,500 acres 1977 - 9,800 acres Some of these areas will modified cutting sites. The equipment required will be Clark Ranger skidders' Mode! 880, FMC Model 200 CA or a combination of both. The work should commence as soon as the requ- ired equipment is available. The 1974 quotation should be on an hourly rate (equipment and operator). The subsequent years will be negotiated 1974 bidder. Performance bond on $2,000 will be required with Tender.
