Vol. IZ: No. I2 March 27, I974 I5¢ Per Copy TERRACE BAY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HONOURS ONE OF ITS OWN For the first time, the Terrace Bay Chamber of Commerce honoured one of its own members, Michael and Joanne Moore and their son Adam Terrace Bay's First Baby for I974 at a dinner in the new Red .Dog Inn on Wednesday, March I3. Mrs. E. Connors was in charge of arrange- ments and presented them with an engraved silver mug. Twenty-eight people gathered for the occasion and President, R.F.C. Buckley welcom- ed those present and called upon the Rev. Peter McKague to say Grace. Rev. and Mrs. McKague and the baby's grandmother, Mrs. John Ropchan, were special invited guests. Michael thanked all those in attendance and those who sent gifts on behalf of his wife and their son. The minutes of the last regular meeting and the Special Meeting of February 28th were adopted as circulated. Under business arising, Bill Kirkpatrick reported that the 1974 Membership Drive has been completed. Memberships to date are: Terrace Bay 596; Schreiber 564; Rossport 40. The Nominating Committee offered the foll- owing names to stand for election as Board Members at the Annual Meeting: Bruce Tilbury, Schreiber; Glen Swanson, Schreiber; Janice McEwen, Terrace Bay. It was pointed out that nominations from the floor will also be accepted during. the election at the Annual Meeting on April I7th. Rene McAdam reported on the heating agree- ment negotiation meeting with representatives of Pinewood Court District Home held on March 9th. The Ministry of Health has dpproved a forgiveable loan for two-thirds of the hospit- al's share of the capital costs on the new heating system. Accounts for February, 1974 in the amount of $21,520.91 were passed for payment. Rena McAdam presented a proposed resolution to change the legal name of the hospital. The Board agreed and this resolution will be pla- ced on the agenda of the Annual Meeting. Vic Mazzone reported on his visit to Geral- dton District Hospital on February 25th. The new water-type fire extinguishers have been placed in the hospital and a new nursing station desk has been installed. continued page 8
