Vol. I7 No. 7 February 20, I974 I5¢ Per Copy TERRACE BAY COUNCIL QUOTES Two members of the Terrace Bay Library Board, Mr. Ken MacLeod and Mr. Sonny Helmink, met with Town Council prior to the regular meet -ing on Tuesday evening, to presented the 1974 budget estimates. After their presentation, Council resumed regular business. Minutes were adopted as read. Correspondence included a letter from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications with regard to the I974 Subsidy allotment for maintenance and construction. The Separate School Board submitted a re- quest for tax collection for I974 on their be- half. The Strand Theatre owner requested in a letter, permission to hold Sunday movies on a trial basis. Council approved the matter, and passed a resolution to the effect, stating that it would be reviewed after six weeks, with the owner of the theatre. St. Martin's School made a request for per- mission to sell Easter Chocolates, with funds continued page 2 STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN YOUNG VOYAGEUR PROGRAM IN SUMMER OF /4 This summer 20 students from Lake Superior High School will have a unique opportunity to exchange one week visits with a similar group of students from Duncan, British Columbia. In addition to this exchange both groups will spend three days in Ottawa and the surround- ing region as guests of the hosting service of the Department of the Secretary of State. All major expenses for this venture are paid by the federal and provincial govern- ments. This includes travel by bus, plane and train. Home accommodation and meals are provided by the community being visited. Participating students need only take suffic- ient money to cover personal expenses. In order to make this exchange a success we must find I0 boys and IO girls who are I4 to I6 years of age and in grades 9, IO or II. They must have friendly personalities and the potential to benefit from the program.
