PLAN NEW YEAR ACTIVITIES The tentative date of March I6th was set by the Catholic Women's League at their Decem- ber meeting for a cold plate supper from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. and penny auction to follow at 7. p.m. President, Mrs. Lucy Chicoine thanked the members for giving and working at the League's Christmas bazaar. Mrs. Claire Power thanked the ones who'd contributed so much knitting to the bazaar, and volunteered to make a quilt to be raffled at the March tea. Mrs. Mary Kazmiercjak asked for help to put on a penny auction in January, the proce- eds to go to Amethyst House in Thunder Bay. A donation was made to the Church building fund. A letter from the Bishop stressed that all Catholics should write to their member of Parliament re abortion. Sister Carol urged members to attend the Wednesday night prayer meetings in prepara- tion of Christmas. Mrs. Liz Presoctt reported on attending the committee meeting to pack hampers for needy families for Christmas. The next general meeting will be held in February with a guest invited. The annual parish social, it was announced,» will be held in February. The ceremony of the Crowning of the Bless- ed Virgin Mary - an annual rite - was planned for the month of May. Minutes of the last meeting were adopted as read by Mrs. Gloria Mullins. Father F.J. Meyer who gave the opening and closing prayers, thanked the members for their loyal support and the financial assistance they gave to their church and parish. Following the meeting Sister Carol accom- panied a round of carol singing and the 40 members present enjoyed lunch and a social 2%.
