Further word is awaited from Mr. Wright, of the Waste Management Branch, Environmental Control. Councillor Brassard stated that the garbage disposal area is a real mess, and something must be done. The Public Works Committee will look into. this matter. Correspondence included a letter from the Marketing Manager of Ontario Hydro, re decor- ative lighting for the Christmas season. He stated that although there is no shortage of electric energy at this time, nevertheless all forms of energy must be conserved. A suggestion was made that decorative lighting in all buildings must be curtailed, of modest nature, and used for shorter periods of time, and where possible, kept off utilities peaks. Ontario Hydro requests co-operation of all Ontario residents in this respect. A letter of thanks was received from Mr. G. Puttock, on behalf of himself and Mrs. Puttock, for the recent dinner, held in honour of the unpaid committee members. This was accepted and the fire extinguishers will be ordered. Ontario Hydro submitted a statement indi- cating the basis for determining I974 whole- sale rate. ; District 3, O.M.E.A., suggested they are in favour of continuing with the program, Reach for the Top, and asked the continued support of the local council.
