DECEMBER 19, I973 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 17 A LETTER OF INTEREST Mrs. Rena McAdam, hairman of the Board of Directors, cCausland Hospital, errace Bay, Ontario. ear Mrs. McAdam: write in reference to an article as publish- d in this weeks issue of the Terrace Bay News eaded, 'MO.H.A. Statement on Ministry of Heal- h-Budget Letter". (Dec. 5th issue). 'he opinion I express are my personal opinions nd do not reflect on any other organizations r persons in which I hold executive capacit- es. ~ can appreciate your Boards concern and frus- ration in your attempts to formulate your 1974 expenditure budget, in light of the Min- CHrisTMAS Musicians, by Norman Rockwell. Courtesy Hallmark Cards, Inc. Christmas Nostalgia Portrayed By America's Favorite Artist Norman Rockwell is perhaps better qualified than any other artist to portray a typically American Christmas scene. In this illustration of a trio of quaint-looking musi- cians playing carols in the street, he has captured the flavor of an old-fashioned Christmas in a small town. It is the authenticity in this painting as in all Norman Rockwell's work that inspires such lasyng, universal ap- peal. Norman Rockwell never fakes a detail. Local, small town residents posed for the three musi- cians in clothing that had been carefully selected from Mr. Rockwell's huge wardrobe of costumes. The lantern and musical instruments were garnered from antique shops across the countryside. A . The painting shown was originally commissioned by Hallmark for a Christmas card. isters rulings. In so much as the Federal Government has pass- ed legislation increasing contributions by both employers and employees, plus our Honour- able Members at Queens Park taking a "hold the line" policy, your Board with many others fear ansterity measure, we must assume we'll pro- duce inferior services to the people we were elected to serve. Last week on a visit to your hospital, I not- iced the deteriorated conditions of the wait- ing room furnishings. That plus the press re- lease prompts me to make the following sugges-- tion to your Board. consider taking a page from the Irish book and conduct a lottery in this area to seek an av- enue of finance that may relieve some of your budget pressures. I would further suggest, if you feel any merit in the plan to use the N.H. L. Play-offs as your base for the lottery. Should your Board need volunteers in some such venture, I would be delighted to so serve. continued page I8 ....... = RR 4 A : 4 - christmas greetings Christmas Greetings to all the nice peo- ple we met during our stay in Terrace Bay with our daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Dave Barnett and Family.
