DECEMBER I2, I973 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE I9 TERRACE BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT A total of seventeen occurrences were in- vestigated by the Terrace Bay Police Depart- ment during the past week. On December 3rd a minor accident occurred with damage estimated at $I50.CO. December 4th saw a further accident occur when the brakes of one vehicle gave out. Dam- age was in the area of $600.00. Also on December 4th a dispute occurred when a customer at a local business establish- ment wished to pay with a $50. bill which the proprietor refused. The customer and his $50 bill were checked and both found to be legit- imate > On December 8th a minor theft occurred and is under investigation. Also on December 8th a limb from a tree blew down in the wind and fell across the hyd- ro wires causing a small fire and break in the hydro service. The situation was quickly brought under control and power restored. Five motor vehicles were safety checked and four warnings issued. ¢ Two charges were laid under the municipal dog by-law act. ROSSPORT TOWN TOPICS Miss Maxine Hubelit of Wawa, Ontario spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mac Hubelit. ; Mrs. Mabel Martin of Thunder Bay is visit- ing her son Ben Martin and family. Thunder Bay visitors this week included Mr. and Mrs. R.T. Kenney, Mr. and Mrs. Chas Henderson, Mrs. Chas Todesco, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gerow and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. Schelling, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Legault. Peter King of Espanola motored to Rossport and was accompanied by his father Adolph King back to spend the winter with him in Espanola. Mesdames Kay Bouchard, Emma Molinski, Anne Wilde and Prina Gerow are training the school children for the annual Christmas concert. Joe and Ben Goodchild of Heron Bay are visiting relatives at Pays Plat Mission. Rev. Father Hysenik of Beardmore visited the Pays Plat Mission for Sunday service. Mid night Mass is to be celebrated at the mission this year. Mrs. Jos Brassard and Peter Karpuk are patients in the McCausland Hospital, Terrace Bay. : Mrs. W. Schelling hosted the St. Berchman's Alter Society Tuesday evening at their Decem~ ber meeting. Following the business part of the organization a Christmas party was held with an exchange of gifts from a decorated tree and luncheon served from a table set in the Christmas theme. Mrs. Prina Gerow led in opening and closing prayers. Mrs. Camilla Legault read the minut- es and correspondence and reported on cards mailed during the month. Mrs. Todesco pre- sented the financial statement and reported on a recent entertainment held by the organi- zation. Plans were made for the erection of the crib at the church and preparing the church for the Christmas season. It was noted that Miss Maxine Hubelit of Wawa won the twenty- five dollar draw.
