AND MRS + WEAVER CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Weaver's home was fill- ed with relations and friends, coming with gifts and loving congratulations, when they entertained to mark their 50th wedding anniver- sary. Connie and Hubert were married in the manse of St. Andrew's United Church by the Rev. Will- iam Reid, with the groom's sister, and her hus -band, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Rattray as their att- 'endants. : Neither Mr. nor Mrs. Weaver are natives of Schreiber, but both grew up here, Mr. Weaver coming with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weaver from Consecon, Ont. when he was nine years old, and Mrs. Weaver, the former Connie Spicer, coming with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Spicer, from London, England, when she was six years old. Mr. Weaver retired on pension as a C.P.R. locomotive engineer in I963. The Weavers have only one child, a son, William R. = Bill - but he and his wife, the former Lorraine Harper, have three pretty live- ly daughters who have filled their grandpar- ents' home with joy and laughter - Daryl Lynn, Mrs. Jody Davis; Wendy, Mrs. Justin Martin and Billie - attending Lakehead University. Still further happiness has been added by great grandchildren - Justin Davis and twins Derek William and Jennifer Lynn Martin. The happy couple were pleased to receive framed placques from the Hon. Pierre Trudeau, ° Prime Minister; the Hon. Roland-Mitchener, Gov- ernor General; and the Hon. William Davis, Premier of Ontario - this last, most happily presented by a Schreiber friend - Jack Stokes MLA. From Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weaver and their daughter Billie the Weavers received a dinette suite and, the lovely orchid metallic-threaded evening gown which Mrs. Weaver wore for the COME & GO SHOWER A Come & Go Shower Ln honour of Brenda Yates will be held Thursday, December 13th grom §& - 10 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Willoughby, Schreiber. Everyone Welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Davis, a living room clock, from Mr. and Mrs. Martin a living room lamp, and from Miss Irene Spicer - Mrs. Weavers sister, a cheque for a specific purpose. Prior to the evening party the Weavers were honoured at a dinner in the Restaurant LeBlanc when their son, as M.C. read many messages of congratulations and one affectionate tribute to Connie, an original poem by Arthur J. Stairs of Ocala, Fla., an uncle of whom all the Weav- ers are particularly fond. Mr. Stairs was in Schreiber when Bill was born and now keeps in close touch with family affairs by a lively correspondence with Bill's daughters. A handsome three tiered wedding cake graced the tea table during the evening when the guests were served by Mrs. Bill Weaver and her daughters, assisted by friends, and Bill Weaver and Justin Martin in charge of the punch bowl. One of Mr. Weaver's most prizes posessions, a most valuable curio, which he has had since he was a small boy, is an old hand-cranked movie projector, and number of films which their friends never tire of viewing, in gales of laughter at the very old comedy features. TERRACE BAY MIDGETS NEWS Terrace Bay Midgets after losing their open- ing home game 6-5 to Schreiber, travelled to the Schreiber rink Thursday and again were de- feated by the score of 7-6. The Midgets could- n't contain Schreiber while blowing a 4-3 lead in the final period. The Terrace Bay scoring was led by P. 0'Javee with two goals and M. Stortind, Vv. Hirt, N; Chopty and J. Osmar each getting one goal apie- ce. Rick Petrus went the whole game in goal. Our Midgets first win of the season came a- gainst the home team Manitouwadge, Sunday as Terrace Bay came out on the winning end of a 4-1 score. Terrace Bay Midgets had control of the game and never were behind. Terrace Bay scorers were Ed Angus, P. 0O'Javee IN. Chopty and J. Caron picking up one goal each. Rick Petrus was relieved in goal the third per- iod by Jim Pytyck who both played very well.
