w TERRACE BAY NEWS Vol. I6 No. 46 November or, 1973 I5¢ Per Copy TERRACE BAY COUNCIL QUOTES The November I3th meeting of Township Coun- cil was opened with Reeve Roy Bray in the chair and Councillors Brassard, Hale, Helmink and Megraw present. It being two weeks since Council met last, they quickly moved to pass their last meeting minutes held October 23rd and later passed the October Ist Library Board and October I8th Recreation Committee minutes. Business arising from the previous Council minutes delt with the inauguration of a two week pay period for township employees. At this stage the commencement date of January I, I974 has been set with further information on this system still to be obtained. The question of cemetery fencing being order -ed was also questioned with a reply given that a quotation is being sought on 4' II gage fencing. Correspondence submitted: A letter from the Terrace Bay Boy Scouts requesting' permission to sell Christmas cards. Permission was granted. A letter from the Ministry ofsCommunity and Social Services, The Hon. Rene Brunelle to Jack Stokes M.P.P. Thunder Bay regarding a grant in lieu of taxes for Birchwood Terrace (similarly published in the November 7th issue of the News). Council brought out at this time that the grant would be an annual one. A letter from the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario advised the township of rate increases. A 7% per cent increase will be charged to Terrace Bay. A letter from Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rochon term- inating their lease of the Recreation Snack Bar effective January I, 1974 was received. The Horticultural Society wrote thanking continued page 2i.... en BERT LOHR PLAYED LAST POST FOR 15 YEARS Remembrance Day Services were held on Satur- day morning at II a.m., under the direction of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 223, with veterans marching to the Cenotaph, to the music of the Terrace Bay Band. mandar was Parade Marshal. Father A. Greengrass gave the Invocation. Many beautiful wreaths were laid at the foot of the Cenotaph, by the Legion President, Mr. D. Gunter; Auxiliary President, Mrs. D. Mr. Lohr, who has attended the services and played the Last Post for the past I5 years, made his last : appearance in this role, as he and Mrs. Lohr are moving to Elmira, Ontario in the new year, to make their home there."
