Mrs. Mavis Slater read a poem, suitable for Remembrance Day, called 'Implements of War'. Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Eunice Bolan read diff erent versions of the famous 'Flanders Fields' poem. Mrs. Campbell read an account of the Lake Superior Regiment in which her son-in-law Ralph (Dusty) Miller, now in New Zealand, ser- ved. Mrs. Annie Niemi won the attendance prize and Mrs. Morris the contest. Members were asked to bring articles for Christmas hampers and program to the December meeting. In the resignation of Mrs. Ileene William- son, as card secretary, the name Eirene Harn- ess was mistakenly used -- Mrs. Harness still being an active member and serving lunch at this meeting, with Mrs. Mavis Slater and Mrs. John Morris. NOTICE A public meeting will be/ held in the Town | Hall at 7:30 P.M. on Monddy, November 26th regarding the proposed dical Centre. Everyone is invited to express their views and organizations especially are asked for their comments. Municipal Council, Township of Schreiber. ANGLICAN CHURCH WOMEN MEETING The Anglican Church Women held their regu-, lar meeting for November with the opening of prayer by the president. The minutes were read by the secretary and the treasurer's report was accepted as read. The topic of the evening was the finaliz- ing of plans for the Christmas bazaar to be held in the Town Hall basement on November 24th. : All the women of the Church will be asked to given to the bazaar table, and to the bake and candy tables. Everyone's help is needed to make this Christmas bazaar a successful event. The meeting was closed with prayers from the president. ? SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS Alex Power flew to Saskatoon to attend the funeral of James Stack, a favourite cousin The Christmas Hamper Planning Committee will meet on Thursday, November 29th at 7:30 p.m. in the United Church basement, Schreiber Mrs. Violet Nesbitt has returned from her vacation spent with relatives in Carlton Place, Arnprior, Ottawa and other centres. Mrs. Eleanor (Nonie) O'Connor, who has made her home in Schreiber since she came as a bride in I909 enjoyed a happy time of her 8Ist birthday, with relations and old friends in both Schreiber and Terrace Bay calling with congratulations and gifts, the Lady Train -men presenting a special token of their es- teem. Her daughter, Mrs. Ernestine Hucul and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lark of Thunder Bay brought a special cake for the occasion. Adding to her happiness were many cards and the follow=- ing phone calls - from Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Perkins (granddaughter Cynthia) in Moosonee, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Bond (grandson) in Barrie, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schleicher (daughter Mary) in Sudbury. : Mrs. Paul Gauthier was hostess for a show- er-tea in honour of Miss Valerie Bryson whose marriage to Mr. Alex Gauthier takes place December Ist in Kamloops, B.C. Mrs. Mae Bryson received with her daughter. Mrs. Tom Long and Mrs. Barry Harper were the servitors. Mrs. John Paul Gauthier opened the gifts. Mrs. Jim Mikus and Mrs. Danny Riley replenish- ed.
