PAGE IO TERRACE BAY NEWS Brunelle Reply - cont'd ...... "I am pleased to be able to advise you that 'further to your question during debates on Estimates of our Ministry, on October 22nd, I973, about compensating grants in lieu of tax -es lost by the Municipality of Terrace Bay, we have had a favourable response in this re- spect from the Ministry of Treasury, Economics and Intergovernmental Affairs. The Subsidies Officer in T.E.I.G.A. here in Queen's Park, had in fact written in late September to the Commercial and Industrial Valuation Manager of the Thunder Bay-Kenora- Rainy River Assessment Office of the Ministry of Revenue, in Thunder Bay, advising him that in their opinion the property could be includ- ed on the valuation listing for 1973 payments in lieu of taxes, except for those tenanted portions which may be subject to Section 26 of The Assessment Act. This, you will recall, was the explanation given by our Director of Homes for the Aged - Office on Aging Branch, Mrs. Lawrence Craw- ford, in response to your question before the Committee, on October 22nd, I973, particular- ly page SI937 of the Debates for that day in the Standing Committee on Supply. I am sure that you will be pleased with this development which, as we indicated was being worked on, and will convey the news to the Town of Terrace Bay Municipal representatives. I am sharing copies of my correspondence with the present District Board of Management for Homes for the Aged in Thunder Bay, as well, and our Regional Administrator, Mr. M.L. Grav- er. With kindest personal regards. Yours sincerely, Rene Brunelle, Minister." -MINIQUIZ onvanada's Gréat People BY RAY IRELAND What vivacious blonde singer came out of the west in the 1950's to make a big impact on national TV, has been happily married to a talented musician for 25 years, and is often referred to as 'The Pet"? TODAY'S CHILD BY HELEN ALLEN yr EE THE TORONTO SJ] SYNDICATE The summer was a good time for George. He got a sleeping bag for his 12th birthday and since he loves to camp, he was sleeping out at every opportunity. Baseball and swimming are favorite warm weather activities for George but he doesn't mourn over winter because he likes hockey too. Anglo-Saxon in descent, George is a good-looking boy with brown hair, hazel eyes and medium complexion. He is in good health. He is shy on first meetings but has a pleasant per- sonality. George is in Grade six where his work is slightly below average. He says he wants to be a mechanic. Besides sports, he has a variety of interests. He builds models and enjoys movies and TV with western and suspense themes. (A current favorite is Kung Fu.) George chooses pop music for listening. He has a good voice and likes to sing in the church choir and at Sunday School. He would like to live in the country and to have older brothers and sisters. What George needs most is acceptance and love, a family who enjoys doing things together and the security of a planned and consistent home life. To inquire about adopting George, please write to Today's Child, Box 888, Station K, Toronto M4P 2H2. For general adoption information please contact your local Children's Aid Society.
