Ruth McLennan, a native of Kenora, has be- gun duties in Thunder Bay, Arthur C. Leeder, originally from the Sudbury area, has been appointed to Geraldton, and John B. Young a Thunder Bay native, is at Marathon. All three officers have had extensive ex- perience in the public service. Miss McLennan has been working for the Northern Affairs Off- ice on a provisional basis since February and prior to that was a research assistant with the Ministry of Natural Resources in Toronto. Mr. Leeder transferred from the Employment Standards Branch, Ministry of Labour, and Mr. Young has been employed with the Ministry of Health in Thunder Bay as a district represen- tative for Ontario's Health Insurance Plan. 1973-74 CANADA SAVINGS BONDS Payroll savings sales for the 1973-74 Cana- da Savings Bonds Campaign in Ontario will be directed by two prominent men in the securit- ies field, Donald N. Fraser of Toronto and David R. Dattels of Kitchener. They will be responsible for directing the two-month CSB Campaign in the province, comm- encing Mid-Sept. and ending Nov. I5. In this period, 30 CSB organizers will visit some 2,500 business and industrial establishments to help set up payroll savings plans for the purchase of the new Series by employees. More than $I33 million worth of Canada Sav- ings Bonds was purchased through payroll sav- ings plans in Ontario last year. Mr. Fraser will supervise organizers in the Central East Region, which embrases Tor- onto, Northern and Eastern Ontario, while Mr. Dattels will direct the activities of organ- izers in the, Central West region, which takes in the Hamilton-Niagara area as well as South -western Ontario. Mr. Fraser, a resident of Toronto, has been in the securities field since I957, and is associated with a Toronto investment firm. Mr. Dattels has been active in the invest- ment field since I932. He is a partner in an investment firm and a director of several Ontario-based companies. i This year marks the 28th anniversary of Canada Savings Bonds which have become rec- ognized through the years as Canada's most pop -ular personal investment. There have been over 37.8 million applications since 1946, with total sales during that period amounting to over $36.5 billion. Of that amount, nearly $5.8 billion has been purchased through the payroll savings plan instituted in thousands of business establishments for their employ- ees. Last year, a record $368 million worth of Canada Savings Bonds was purchased through payroll savings plan by more than 704,000 individual purchasers.
