Reeve Roy Bray was in the chair with Coun- cillors Brassard, Hale and Megraw present. With no business arising from the July I8th meeting these minutes were passed. The July Recreation account in the amount of $9,397.16 and the August Township $276,064. 33, Library $582.94 and Hydro $9,630.17 were passed for payment. Under correspondence, several letters were received by Council. A draft resolution to be passed by Council with respect to the purchase of certain lands in the township from Kimberly Clark of Canada Ltd. was received from the township lawyer. After the passing of this resolution the certified copies are returned and approval must be given from the Minister of Revenue before these lands can be purchased by the township. The Ministry of the Environment recently in- spected the Municipal waste disposal site and have forwarded to council their recommendations which will upgrade the site to regulation stand -ards. These recommendations were: I. the dis- posal area which has been closed off should be properly grassed. 2. refuse along the acc- ess road should be collected and deposited over the face. 3. A sign should be erected at the face stating to dump over the edge. 4. bump logs should be erected along the dumping face. 5. the turning area should be upgraded. A copy of these recommendations will be forwarded] to Kimberly Clark. The Ministry of Labour wrote informing Coun- cil of the new Construction Safety Act Bill continued page 2 ... LOCAL UNION SETTLES LABOUR AGREEMENT The Local 665, United Paperworks Internation -al Union, on August I6, I973 ratified a Labour Agreement with Kimberly-Clark of Canada Terrace Bay Mill Division, covering 350 employ -ees under it's jurisdiction for a two year contract, terminating April 30, I975. This is the first agreement reached within the Central Canada Mills. The major negotiated improvements were: 8% percent increase in general wage in each year of the contract, producing a mill base rate of $4.57 per hour in the second year of the agreement. Other achieved improvements were a major improvement to the Employees Retirement Plan which is Non-Contributory. Increased shift premiums. Improved vacations with two addit- ional floating holidays during the life of the agreement. Improvements to the sick leave plan with the addition of a Long Term Disability Plan, fully paid by the Company. A paid drug plan plus the gain of other Contract improve- ments. : The vote taken on August I5th was 84% in favour.
