Zombori Clerk-Treasurer Township of Schreiber. $ 8,000 GUIDE AND BROWNIE NEWS Four Girl Guides along with Captain Pam Jon- es who was on staff and her family were invited to camp at Polly Lake, Nipigon, in July with Mrs. Glenna Clearwater. Guides from Red Rock, Marathon, Nipigon, Terrace Bay and Longlac were at camp and a friendly atmosphere spread through the camp as each group was welcomed to T.V. land-Tommy Hunters Haven and the Partrid- ge Paradise of course were the most musical gr- oups. Outdoor adventure and outdoor cook badges were earned by the Guides and their Junior Cam- pers Badge was earned by attending a 7 day Gui- de camp-the early morning breakfasts that had to be cooked for the 'outdoor cook' badge had to be seen to be belived and the Guides working on these certainly found out how to prepare food and keep a fire burning on a beach at 7:30 One phase of 'outdoor adventure' was to find three constellations in the stars, so with much excitement and shrieks, the Guides were turned out of their warm snug beds at II- :30 p.m. to troupe down to an advantage spot beside a quiet still lake to study the stars. It was a beautiful night, and the Milky-way was very clear. After a while each girl was able to find her constellations and with much reluc- tance the ghost like figures of nightie clad girls flitted along the moonlit trail back to camp. These badges earned, will be presented at the beginning of the Guide season in Septem ber. Patricia Paukstys, Leslie McBride, Melody Fisher and Melanie Boyd were the Guides atten- ding. Also in July four Brownies went to Three Fingers Lake, Marathon to a Brownie Pack holi- day. This was the first time that Brownies have been under canvas and it was a great suc- cess, the camp was a 'Space' theme with each tent being named after a planet and during the ald from Marathon worked with all the Brownies on a new badge 'Space', - great fun was had building space homes and writing the most hil- arious stories on "my space trip". Imagina- tions really ran wild on these, and the lead- ers were truly amazed at the thought and in- genuity that these young people had when ask- ed to perform a skit of a "Brownie meeting on the Moon", the skit was performed on the last evening and many visitors were present. With so much fun and enjoyment had by the Brownies we hope that this camp has set a pre- = cedent for the future. Joyce Kurylo, Sandra Aylward, Janice Lie- brock and Barbara Churney were the Brownies attending. The L.A. to Guides and Brownies of Terrace Bay have presented the Guides with a big new tent.
