Last Friday evening, the younger children and the Playground staff had just that and even Santa Claus managed to fly in for the occasion. With everyone settling around him under the lighted Christmas tree, Santa proce- eded to hand out presents to believers and non- believers alike, with some of the latter just itching to have a yank at his snowy white beard After Santa left, the children watched a movie before heading home. Thank you, Santa for Stopping in! Also, special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Persson for running the projector and showing the movie. A Pre-teen Record Dance was held Friday evening in the high school gymnasium with seventy pre-teens in attendance. Edward Grama- towski, the marvel of the dance floor, was the winner of the record draw. Another dance is being planned for the near future so all those who missed out on the fun of the first dance should be sure to attend the next one. There are only four weeks of Summer Play- ground '73 remaining and various activities be- ing planned include a Corn Roast and an over- night Sleeping Party for 7-9 year old girls, an overnight camping trip for I0-I2 year old girls, a Shuffleboard tournament, a fishing trip for 7-9 year old boys, bottle cutting, weaving and much more. A new program for teens commencing Monday, July 30th, will be run according to the follow- ing schedule: Monday: Shuffleboard-large meeting room Tuesday: Basketball-high school auditorium Wednesday: Track & Field, Art-high school, curling lounge This program for anyone I3 years and over* will be run from 9:00 p.m. every evening. AUGUST SWIM SESSION: The August swim session will begin on Thursday, August 2nd. Due to the inclement weather conditions, our tests and pre-tests for July had to be advanced. Because of this, swim class results for July will not be posted until Wednesday at the Swim Pool. For addit- ional information, call your instructor at the Pool. TERRACE BAY SWIM TEAM TRAVELS TO THUNDER BAY: The Terrace Bay swim team will be travell- ing to Thunder Bay this Saturday, August 4th, to participate in a meet with Thunder Bay. At this time, the Terrace Bay swim team would very much like to thank all local people who assisted in the Swim-a-thon in some way. Many thanks to the parents who came out and assisted in the running of the Swim-a-thon; also thanks to those who acted in the capacity of officials for the last two swim meets. ; The money taken in from the Swim-a-thon will greatly assist the team in their travels to Thunder Bay this Saturday, when they travel to Manitouwadge on August I8th for the North : Shore meet, and when they travel to Thunder ] Bay on August 25th to participate in the North- western Ontario meet. : LACROSSE STARTS AUGUST 6TH: Hockey season is only two months away so here's a great chance to get yourself in con- dition. Sessions will be held at the Terrace Bay Arena starting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 6th. MINOR BALL: At the time of this write-up, one playoff game has been completed in the International League. The MUD-HENS were the winners against the WHIPS. In both the American and National Leagues, playoff games are scheduled to begin on the evening of Monday, July 30th. The re- sults of these games will be listed in the News next week. Playoff games in the Girls' League will not commence until next week.
