Also, it gave him the courage to get out of an organization (Detroit) with which he wasn't happy . Quebec Nordiques almost pulled the same thing with Jean Beliveau, the great Montreal captain. Beliveau, however, turned down Nord- iques' offer (it was never divulged, but prob- ably exceeded $I million) and decided to stay on as vice-president of the Canadiens and a director with the Canadian Arena Co. Beliveau's interest with the Canadiens, how- ever, was much different than Howe's affilia- tion with the Red Wings. Gerry Patterson, Beliveau's lawyer, said: "Jean has a good rela tionship with vice-president and general mana- ger Sam Pollock and is completely happy in Montreal." Besides, Beliveau made his name in hockey. He was good to the game, probably better than it was to him. He played I8 years, led Canad- iens to all kinds of Stanley Cups and is now a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Why risk injury playing hockey when you've got it made with the club you've been associa- ted with all those years -- and you like your job. Money talks, yes. In Jean Beliveau's case, though, it didn't talk loud enough. Wouldn't it have been something if the thre three top goal scorers in NHL history would have played in the WHA next season? Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull and Jean Beliveau ....... AGUASABON GOLF CLUB NEWS On Wednesday evening, June 20th, the Men's Twilite Tournament was on again. In the 'A' Division, Ken Hanley was low gross shooting a 40 and T. Desaulniers won the low net with a 36. In the 'B' Division, Terry O'Driscoll won low gross with a 44 and Russell Macadam carded a 35% for low net. The following week Trent and Ken changed winner's circle in the 'A' Division. Trent Desaulniers with a 38 for low gross and Ken Hanley with a 36 for low net. In the 'B' Di- vision C. Pellegrino shot a 42 for low gross and C. Buck a 32 for low net.
