Sponsored by Al-Can and Benson and Hedges, where 60 or more persons interested in learning; two instructors were sent out to Rossport, to teach the fine art of sailing, and safety pre- cautions as well, in times of rough weather or distress. There were three sessions a day, three hours per session, with 20 people in a class at one time. There were five Petrels in the small class sailboat. Classes were held in all types of weather. On the last day, students wefe tested on what they had learned, and a race was scheduled but unfortunately the weather turned so rough that they could not carry on with the race, so held a social hour instead. Mrs. Barb Wise made a cake, decorated for the occasion as a sailboat. Charles Wise was one of the Charter members of the club, as well as Don Brown and Chuck Wilde, who all own larger sailboats. Instructor Bob Thomson made a presentation to Myra Brown, for her act of bravery when her small Petrel capsized, with all the crew aboard. Quick rescue procedures followed, with no bad effects, but they learned just what really hap- pens when a boat capsizes, and what rescue technique is followed. continued page 2 SCHREIBER COUNCIL QUOTES Highlights of the last June meeting of Schreiber Municipal Council included the de- cision that town employees will be paid time and a half after regular hours.
