After a feast of cookies and Kool-Aid tea, the children played a lively game of musical chairs before having one more cookie and head- ing home for lunch. Thursday, the l3-years and over spent an enjoyable afternoon swimming and soaking up the sun at White Sand Lake. Special thanks to Rob- ert VanDerkam for assisting the leaders in a basketball programme last Tuesday evening. Planning is underway for various special activities for each age group this coming we- ek: Tuesday evening ~ a Weiner Roast at the beach for the 1l3-years and over group; Thurs- day afternoon - a swimming party at White Sand Lake for the 7-9 year olds; Friday afternoon - a swimming party at White Sand Lake for the 5-6 year olds; Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. - a Walt Disney movie for children 7-12 years old. Popcorn will be sold. Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. - an overnight camping trip to Rain- bow Falls for boys 10-12 years of age. All of the events planned will be well sup- ervised and interested children will be given further details from the Leaders during the week. Due to the Circus, Playground will be cancelled Thursday evening for all age groups. In case of rain, there will be Playground for the 7-9 year old children. LAST WEEK'S MINOR BALL SCORES: Boys American League - Royals I4 Yankees 7 National League -- Giants 8 Dodgers 6 Girls League - Team 2 9 Team I 2 TERRACE BAY SWIM TEAM: The Terrace Bay swim team has been practis- ing for over two weeks in an attempt to pre- pare themselves for some upcoming meets. They will meet their first outside competition on this Saturday, July 2Ist, when the Thunder Bay swim team travels to Terrace Bay. The meet starts at I0:00 a.m. If you are interested in assisting in the meet, please leave your name with the Pool staff at the swimming pool. We encourage as many people as possible to coach the meet and give our local swimmers the supp- ort they deserve. It is important to note that the afternoon open swim session will be postponed until the Thunder Bay-Terrace Bay swim meet is completed. The following Saturday, July 28th, local swimmers will be competing in the annual Terr- ace Bay swim meet. Any swimmer interested in competing in the local meet may attend swim team practises from I2 noon to I:30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays at the pool. There are presently over 50 swimmers com- prising the Terrace Bay swim team and one of their main objectives this year will be to try' successfully to defend the North Shore swim trophy in Manitouwadge during the month of August. TRACK AND FIELD: Anyone interested in Track and Field be at the Athletic Field at I:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. LACROSSE: Lacrosse will begin in a couple of weeks' time, so if you are interested, submit your name to Pat Smith at the Recreation Office. COMING EVENTS: July I9th - Royal Bros.
