Any of the four adults who indicated interest in taking adult lessons will still have the oppor- tunity to receive some instruction during adult swim lessons from 6:00 to 7:00 each evening. PLAYGROUND NEWS: The sun finally came out in time for opening day of Summer Playground '73 and by Friday it was overcast but the various special events for the week in each age group were still carried out. The 5 and 6 year olds went down to Kimberly- Clark beach Friday morning for a marshmallow roast where Kevin Seidel astounded the group with his "black five marshmallow special". While they were there, the 5 and 6's found a note in a bottle telling them of a treasure chest buried on the beach by Captain Kidd. The treasrue, a chest full of chocolate bars, left the children with the impression that all pir- ates aren't all bad. That evening, the 7-9 year old boys and gir- 1s headed down to the beach for supper. After all had eaten their share of weiners and marsh- mallows, a candy scramble was held to end off the supper before heading back for home. A successful bowling tournament for boys and girls I0-I2 years of age was also held Thursday night, with the following results: Winning Team - Michelle Luke, Patty Regis, Tracey Stachiw, Lita MacDonald. High Score - Tracey Stachiw; low score - Mary Beth Pluta, hidden number - Tommy Fournier. Nominations and elections for a Playground Council made up of two IO-I2 year old bays and two I0-I2 year old girls, was held Friday night before the bowling tournament, with the follow- ing people elected: Lucien Theriault, Bruce Lang, Leslie McBride and Patty Regis. The pur- pose of this council is to represent the rest of the Playground and help plan activities. The Scavenger Hunt, held Thursday evening, was a big success due to the "junk" contribu- tions received from the houses canvassed. Win- ning scavengers were Patty Regis, Natalie Kos- tiuk and Bruce Bickerton. If any person Has any junk they feel the Playground might be able to use, please get in touch with Donna Chapman or bring it down to the curling lounge during the mornings or evenings. ATHLETIC FIELD OPEN MEETING: A special meeting open to the public has been scheduled for Thursday, July I2th, at 6:30 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Recreation Centre. The meeting is designed pr primarily to set up a working committee to co- ordinate the remaining work that must be done at the athletic field. It is hopeful that a number of adults and youth will plan to attend this meeting. MEN'S BASKETBALL: Basketball will start on Sunday night for persons over I8 years of age at the Terrace Bay High School. If sufficient interest, bask- etball will be held twice a week. If you are interested, turn out at 7:30 p.m. at the High School auditorium. LACROSSE: Anyone interested in playing Lacrosse this summer should submit their names to Pat Smith at the Recreation Office. ART TREK: This coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July I2th, I3th and I4th, ART TREK will again be visiting Terrace Bay. The Schedule for Art Trek is as follows: Thursday, July I2th - I:00 - 4:30 p.m. (I6 year years of age and over); 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. (I2- I5 years of age); Friday, July I3th - same schedule as for Thursday; Saturday, July I4th 9:00 a.m. = I2 noon (I2-I5 years of age) The instructors, Wayne Staples and Judy Gould, will be available on the dates and tim- es to meet with anyone interested in the Curl- ing Lounge. There is no charge for this pro- gramme and all materials and supplies are pro- vided. If you are interested in painting, batik, sculpture, macrame or printing, plan to attend your sessions.
