Under new business Councillor Helmink asked Council for the sum of $800.00 to be given to the Canada Day Committee with the amount of $300.00 guaranteed. Council also granted permission for proper- ty in front of the municipal office to be used for a beer garden on Canada Day. The municip- al office washroom facilities will also be available providing they are attended. A discussion was held regarding the cost of gas alone being more than the tender submitted for rental of a % ton truck. Councillor Hale felt strongly that the township should pur- chase their own vehicle. This matter will be discussed further when a full council is in attendance. The matter of the condition of the Moose Hall and the Railway Station Roads will be looked into. A letter will be sent to local businesses reminding them of the changes in garbage pick- up and the use of the land fill site. The matter of grants available for renova- tion to the recreation center heating system will be looked into. .Councillor Helmink is still trying to narr- ow down the cost of operating the Curling Club and Councillor Hale volunteered to try and ob- tain some of this information. By-law 256 was given a first, second and third reading and passed. This is a by-law repealing by-law 245 for Road Superintendant John Mikus. By-law 257 was given a third reading and passed.
