SWIMMING COURSES: Announcements concerning Instructor and Re- qualification- swimming courses were made at the High School on Monday, May 28th. Since the Red Cross put some early deadlin- es on the course, anyone who wants to apply for a course, SHOULD CALL THE RECREATION TODAY! MINOR BALL PROGRAMME THIS SUMMER: The Recreation announce that the Department is pleased to Minor Ball programme will be offered this year. All information about this programme will be outlined on the registration forms which will be circulated through the schools next week. VOLUNTEER HELP REQUIRED FOR MINOR BALL: In order to operate the minor ball program this summer, volunteers will be required to do coaching and umpiring. There will be a place on the registration form for you to indicate your willingness to help. If you will not be receiving a registration form, PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE AT 3542 and leave your name, phone num- ber and area in which you would like to help. We are hoping to have the programme start on Monday, June 25th and continue throughout July allowing the month of August for represen- tative games. SWIMMING PROGRAMME : The Recreation Department will again be off- ering a Swimming and Instructional programme this summer. More children will be able to take instruction due to the new Beginners pool which will be in operation this summer. Registration forms outlining all details of the instructional programme will be circulated through the schools during the week of June 7th to 17th. A complete breakdown of our pool programme will be published in mid-June. YOUTH-IN-ACTION PROJECT APPROVED FOR TERRACE BAY: The Terrace Bay Recreation Department re- ceived official notice last week that approval has been given by the Sports and Recreation branch to the "Summer Youth Development" pro- ject. This simply means that with the monies approved by the Sports and Recreation branch, our Department will be able to hire a supmer programme person to concentrate on a number of youth programmes this summer. The project is co-sponsored by the Sports and Recreation Branch of the Ministry of Com- munity and Social Services and the Terrace Bay Recreation Committee. COMING EVENTS: June Ist - Terrace Bay Bowling Association banquet and dance 6:I5 p.m. Music by a Mara- thon orchestra, at the Moose Hall. Everyone welcome. June 7th - Terrace Bay Horticultural Society bedding plant sale from 4:00 p.m. through the evening. Truck outside Recreation Centre. June I3th to I7th - E. & J. Enterprise mid- way sponsored by the Candian Legion. Watch for futher information. NEW CONSTABLES FOR TERRACE BAY Two new constables have joined the Terrace Bay Police Force. i Horace Sturgeon, served a number of years with the Armed Forces and in the Law Enforce- ment Field. He is married and has two child- ren, Diane 6, and Shelby 3. f His wife Brenda and the girls will move | to Terrace Bay shortly from Marathon. George Histed comes from Hamilton, served =. as a Police Cadet with the Hamilton Police Department. He is unmarried, and will join the force soon. He has been called away due to illness in the family. NO T.1C E SUPERIOR AVENUE - LAKEVIEW EXCAVATION Parents are requested to caution their children of the danger of playing in or around the trench excavation on the above named streets. Your co-operation would be appreciated Township of Terrace Bay Boyd Drake has returned to London after spending ten days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Drake - Boyd is with the Children's Aid Society. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beasley of Toronto visit- ed Mr. and Mrs. Ken Davis this week.
