MAY 16, I973 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 7 Kin Hi Program - continued ...... Skill sessions are designed on the theory that people "learn by doing" and include leadership/membership roles, effective team- work, handling of conflict, decision making and evaluation of performance. The last part of the program is planned and carried out by the participants themselves, with the help and guidance of the Kin Hi staff. Creative and unique project possibilities are unlimited. Video tape productions, arts and crafts, film editing, exploring social or pol- itical issues, and environmental studies are just some activites that Kin Hi participants have tackled. A canoe trip in Quetico Park is a natural choice for many of the participants. The elements of wind, water and wilderness provide an excellent opportunity to apply the skills of leadership using participation and involvement as a way of developing commitment to teamwork and co-operation. Prior to conclusion of the seminar, students evaluate their experiences to assess learning and insights gained during the course. Local students I5-I8 years of age who are interested in this opportunity should contact their high school principal or Bruce Gordon or Walter Klassen members of the Kinsmen Club. The Club has been participating in the Kin Hi Leadership Course for four years and has sponsored a total of three boys and one girl from the community. People who participated last year were very enthusiastic about their experiences at the course.
