Disbursements were as follows: Township = $18,906.68; Hydro - $14,041.46; Library - $836.47; Recreation Committee - $8,536.99. Under new business, two applications for the vacancies left on the Police Force were re- viewed, and a resolution passed to accept Mr. H. Sturgeon and Mr. G. Histed, as Constables of the Terrace Bay Police Force, effective as soon as possible. Inspection of vacant township properties re- garding junk and debris will be taken the week of May I2th. It may be necessary to extend the clean up week for an additional period, during the week of May 2I to May 25. Quotations will be requested from construc- tion firms for a further application of oil treatment and sand on existing chip sealed boulevard streets. Several complaints have been received from residents located in all areas of the town regarding barking dogs, and the resultant annoyance, particularly during the late even- ing and early morning hours, or when shift workers are attempting to sleep. Any evidence of misuse or cruelty to anim- als will be reported to the Humane Society. Council urgently requests the co-operation of dog owners in the attempt to quell the annoy- ance to neighbours. Anne Murray Stays With Us - cont'd ........ The internationally-known songstress, whose popularity has spread to Europe and beyond (she was recently named Britain's top female vocalist, Country-1972) will also be the Honourary Flowers of Hope Chairman during National Week for the Mentally Retarded, May 13-12. Although her professional schedule is too crowded and far flung to make personal appearances on behalf of local associations, Miss Murray's photograph and name or message will appear on many Flowers of Hope and other promotional materials in an effort to spur public interest in and support for the mentally retarded. Her 60-second television promo will be re-issued for TV stations across Canada. In 1972, Miss Murray visited numerous workshops and residences while touring Canadian cities. She plans to continue the practise this year. rT a
