PAGE I4 TERRACE BAY NEWS APRIL 25,1973 WOMEN'S CURLING CLUB Albina (Bina) Welbourne, veteran curler, was presented with a Life Membership in the Schreiber Women's Club at a social evening held in the curling rink. Loud applause and joyous 'ole's greeted the presentation, by Edna Cocks, because Bina's skill had finally wrested the coveted trophy in the first event in the mixed bonspiel which ended the local season. Other trophies presented were: The Terrace Bay News-Freda Duggan, Myrna McCuaig, Cecile Wilson and Jean Tremblay; Club-Bina Welbourne, Ruth Hiller, Ev Mooney and Norma Courtney; Spadoni-for vice skips = June Dukes, June Siss- on, Flora Bryson and Marcella Cebrario. The buffet lunch table was centered with a much-admired cake made by Joyce Cluette in the shape of a 'rock' flanked by a broom. Kay Fraser, club president, spoke of the successful season enjoyed, both in the bonspi- els planned and in the social gatherings, thanking those who had worked in various ways to support-the club. Officers for the coming year are: Kay Fras- er, president; Edna Cocks, vice-president; Lil MacDonald, secretary; Pat Cook, treasurer; Eva Gordon, membership convener; Joy Riley, pub- licity convener; Norma Courtney, bonspiel chair -man; Edie Birch, Ruth Ann Birch, Mary Kazmier- czk, prize committee.
