PAGE I4 TERRACE BAY NEWS APRIL 4, 1973 RUBY REBEKAHS MEETING Mrs. Beth Macadam, was elected, at the March 28th meeting of the Schreib- er Rebekah Lodge, as represenative to the Rebekah Assembly in Toronto in June of this year, with Mrs. Dora Weaver as alternate delegate and Mrs. Gladys Hamilton as Scholar. Mrs. Winnie Clemens and Mrs. Maca- dam will represent the Lodge at the district meeting in Thunder Bay on April 3rd - all past and present noble grands eligible to attend this meet- ing. Arrangements for the official visit of Mrs. Mavis Slater, president of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario during the month of May are presently being planned. The vice-grand reported on cards and flowers sent to sick and bereaved members. A bridge and whist party was plann- ed for April 27th, replacing the form- er Spring tea, with Mrs. Gladys Hamil- ton as the convener. Mrs. Shirley Brown will convene the lunch committee on April IIth when Mrs. June Claydon, D.D.P. District 41I will pay her official visit. Mrs. Beth Macadam gave a historial report on the life of Schuyler Colfax, founder of the Rebekah Degree whose anniversary is observed in March. Degree practice was held following the meeting. Mrs. Graham Oxby, with her son Jason, of Timmons, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sisson. Mr. George Dashkewytch of Terrace PUBLIC SPEAKING Ld The laurels went to Terrace Bay in the 4th Public Speaking contest for elementary schools - St. Martin's Sep- arate School in Terrace Bay and Holy Angel's Separate School in Schreiber - the winners being Guy Kodila, Patti Regis and Judy Zwaresh. The young contestants were permit- ted to choose their own subjects, which interested the large audience. The judges were W. Robitaille, Terr- ace Bay, Mrs. Gloria Mullins and Don Anderson, Schreiber. The competing included Guy Kodila, Primary; John Bruno, grade 2, Terrace Bay; Susie Costa, grade 3, Lucy Costa, grade 2, Schreiber; Jeff Reid, grade 5, Franca Costa grade 6, Nanette McDonald, grade 4, Schreiber; Barbara Gramatowski, grade 5, Patti Regis, grade 6, Terrace Bay; Gerard Wykes gr- ade 4, Schreiber; Michelle Bedard gra- de 8, Diane Dietrich grade 7, Schreiber Kelly Ann Chesley grade 7, Patti Regis grade 8, Terrace Bay. A trophy was presented to each win- ner and a plaque to their school. The winners also receiving a cross and chain. Anthony Speziale, vice-principal of Holy Angels School was M.C. for the event and awards were presented by Lionel Bourguignon, chancellor of St. Edward's Council. ONTARIO PROPERTY TAX CREDIT PLAN Money from the Ontario government is flowing out at a rapidly growing rate to early filers of income tax returns, Revenue Minister Allan Grossman ann- ounced.
