PAGE 8 TERRACE BAY NEWS FEBRUARY I4, I973 LADIES AUXILIARY TO LEGION The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary was held on January 27th and chaired by Madam President Gunter. Two new members Beth Neely and Mar- ion Pluta were initiated and welcomed into the auxiliary. The Ladies Auxiliary will once again put a float into the Winter Carnival parade. Winn McKechnie will be in charge of this effort and we wish her luck. Tickets will soon go on sale for a "Mystery Prize" and as we all know - surprizes are fees. On February I5th the ladies will play hockey against the "TOPS" girls - If you had the chance to witness their efforts last year, then by all means come out and give the girls your supp- ort once again. Lois MacCrae and Paulette Coupal are in charge of this event and are putting every effort in- to making this hockey game a success. The Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor Paulette Coupal for Carnival Queen. Sheila Dakin and Lillian Belliveau will serve free coffee at the Legion from 9 a.m. to I2 p.m. on Saturday, February I7th. Pop and chips will al- so be on sale for the children. From I2 noon to 6 p.m. "Hot Sand- wiches" will go on sale for hungry adults. Pam Jones will convene the knitting for the bazaar and will have a supply of wool on hand soon. Anyone wishing to knit please contact Pam. A news bulletin will be written up twice yearly giving any information a member wishes to know. This will also keep members up to date on past and coming events. Watch for this bulletin. Don't forget the "Mixed Curling Bonspiel" on March 3rd. Anyone wish- ing to curl can put their name on the list at the Legion. Bea St. Louis and Wynn McKechnie will convene this event) Just a reminder to the ladies - your membership fees are now due. You can purchase these from Jean Megraw. Sympathy is expressed to Dr. A.B. Adey and family on the sudden passing of Mrs. Adey. CANCELLATION The Royal Candian Legion 5th Annual Snowmobile Races are being cancelled due to. snow conditions and safety haz- ards on the cross country and circuit track. Also meals to be served that day will also be cancelled. If snow conditions improve these races will be held at a later date. The draw for the Chain Saw or $100 will be held at the Legion Dance February I7th. CARNIVAL QUEENS PLEASE NOTE All Carnival Queens are asked to please be at the arena at 5:45 p.m. on February I5th. COMMUNITY CHURCH LADIES AUXILIARY Mrs. S. Lundberg welcomed the mem- bers of the Evening Group of the Ladies Auxiliary to the February meeting and read a short poem. Mrs. G. Soughton who took the Worship service, based her theme on Christian Love. Mrs. Vera Kennedy acted as Secretary in the absence of Mrs. Elaine Mannisto Minutes and correspondence were read. Mrs. Marg Duriez gave the treasurer's report. : Business arising from the minutes included the fact that the Ladies Aux- iliary this year were not able to sub- mit a float in the Winter Carnival. i Members of the Catholic Women's League were invited to take part in the World Day of Prayer, after which tea will be served. Correspondence was read, including thank you notes and a letter from the Winter Carnival Committee, requesting a committee be chosen to plan prizes for the Winter Carnival. Mrs. E. Buckley, Mrs. Pam Jones, Mrs. B. Bar- nett and Mrs. Lundberg agreed to take on this project. The Boy Scout Banquet convener, Mrs. L. Harris, asked for volunteers to set | tables and prepare the food for Febru- ° ary 23rd. Mrs. Harris also read a let- ter from the Girl Guide Association to cater to their annual Mother and continued page 9
