Councillor J.S. Caccamo reported that Fire Chief Doig is still studying the fire code for rules which will best cover Schreiber and will soon present his suggestions to council. It was reported the motor and gener- ator on the thawing machine is being repaired and an amp meter has been or- dered. The local Knights of Columbus were granted permission to sell tickets on their annual charities' draw. Permission was granted to the Third Sports Lottery under the Provincial Lottery License No. I20328 to sell tickets from February Ist to May 23rd for a $50,000 draw. A request for a grant to the Ontario Conference on local Government was re- fused. : The resolution of the Township of Marathon protesting the acceptance, by Ministry of Community and Social Ser- vies, of the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel, could not be endorsed by Schreiber. This council is still in favour of an addition to Pinewood Court rather than building new homes in small municipal- ities but since this is an outright gift, Schreiber can make no comment at this time. IBM Canada Ltd. notified council that the North Bay Data Centre is being closed and IBM has been awarded the responsibility of assisting in the pre- paration of tax bills-council will meet with an IBM representative to discuss prices. In response to their request Reeve McParland will name a représentative to the Lake Superior Board of Education The Ministry of Transportation and Communications advised that the sub- sidy allocation for I973 is in the am- ount of $5,000 for construction and $15,000 for maintenance. Minutes of specials meetings held in December of Pinewood Court Board of Management were read. The District Assessors' office advis ed Council that Schreiber's share of the 1973 costs of the Home for the Ag- ed is 3.320%. The Reeve was named: visiting representative on the district Child Welfare budget board for I973. The Ministry of Treasury, Economics and Intergovernmental Affairs notified Council their application under regis- tration has been forwarded to Toronto for processing. D. Manahan, planning officer, Minis- try of Treasury, Economics and Inter- governmental Affairs, wrote regarding Township of Schreiber, District of Thunder Bay, - consent of application from L. Small to G.B. Cebrario - council is in favour of the sale of land. Mr. Manahan hopes to attend the next Schreiber Council meeting to dis- cuss zoning and other planning matters. Councillor Krause agreed to act as local contact for the Ministry of In- dustry and Tourism. E. Borutski, Road Supt., was author- ized to attend a technical course sp- onsored by the Ministry of Transpor- tation and Communications on February 2I-22 in Thunder Bay. Minutes of the meeting held in Man- itouwadge by the Lake Superior Board | of Education were read and filed. The I972 interim report of the Select Committee on land drainage was studied. The Director of the Children's Aid Society, Thunder Bay, sent a letter, clearly explaining the seeming dupli- cation in service in the establishment of a new centre, showing that it fills a need not before provided fcr.
