Mr. J. Symington, Chairman of the Board, introduced the new Board Member Mr. Joseph Morgan, who had been appointed by the Lieutenant Governor to fill the vacancy created when Mrs. J. Ferrier resigned. Also in attend- ance were Mr. Fred Harness, Vice-Chair man, Mrs. Margaret Sideen, Board Mem- ber, Mr. Milton J. Vibert, Administra- tor, and Mrs. Verna Peltonen, Secre- tary. The four hour meeting dealt mainly with a draft agreement between the Province and the District Board. This agreement is possible under the recent ammendment to the Homes for the Aged and Rest Homes Act passed in December. The Agreement states that the Dist- rict Board will take over and operate the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel as a Sen- ior Citizens Home for a term of twenty five years, this will be subject to renegotiation at the end of this term. Initially the Province will pay all Architect and Engineering fees and the costs will be recoverable from the District Board under the cost sharing formula for capital funds set out by the Act. The Board will ask for clarifica- tion on this point, they would like the repayment period to be spread out over a number of years, they are also cont'd page 2 cesses» COUNCIL QUOTES The Chairman of the Board of Gover- nors, of the McCausland Hospital, Mr. Frank Anderson and the Hospital Admin- istrator, Mr. Vic Mazzone, met with the Terrace Bay Town Council, prior to the regular meeting on Tuesday evening. The purpose of the meeting was to explain the financial position of the McCausland Hospital Board. They point- ed out the need for financial assist- ance, in that having no working capital funds at the time of taking over the hospital they were faced with necessary capital expenditures, for which a por- tion of the cost must be raised locally The Terrace Bay Council will meet with the Schreiber Town Council to discuss methods of assisting the Board. Reeve Bray thanked Mr. Anderson and Mr. Mazzone for attending the meeting and presenting their case in a concise man- ner. Coing into regular business, the minutes were adopted as read. Correspondence included a letter from the Ministry of Transportation and Communication advising Council of the subsidy allocation for Road Maintenance A letter from Youth Canada advised Council of the Opportunities for Youth grants which are available. The Public Library Board of Terrace Bay stated they had received the res- ignation from the Board of Mrs. May Dorland, and had presented the name of Mr. Ken MacLeod to replace her.
