SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS Eighty-one children, up to eight years old some jubilant and some terror sticken, greet- ed Santa Claus, at the Canadian Legion's children Christmas party, each receiving a gift from him, with other goodies. Frank McKenna was the man in the red suit. While awaiting Santa's arrival the excited kids were served sandwiches and pop and sang carols, accompanied by Mrs. Ethel Smith. Other auxiliary members working at the occasion were Mesdames Bea McCuaig, Earline Johnson, Joan Costall, Lilyan Christie, Chris. Morris, Kay Fraser, Georgina Davis, and Ruth Hiller, the converer. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Welsh, of Toronto, vig Lorraine Bedard and her fiance, Pat Crowe of Windsor, spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Rene Bedard. Ivan Martin, who is taking a course in electronics in Duluth was home for Christmas. Melanie Ross was home from college in Ottawa with her parents Mrs. and Mrs. Neil Ross. * Valerie Bryson of Thunder Bay was here with her mother. Mrs. Ann Etches spent Christmas in Montreal with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Dott and Dawn of Winnipeg, Miss Linda Birch, Confederation College Thunder Bay spent Christmas holidays with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Birch. Weekend visitors in Schreiber were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Willoughby, and Mrs. Edith Willoughby, of Thunder Bay with Mrs. Saima Willoughby; Miss Lois Davis of Thunder Bay with Mrs. N McCuaig; Mr. and Mrs. Chal. McCuaig and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Therien of Atikokan with Mr. and Mrs. Lester McCuaig. RUBY REBEKAH At the December meeting of Ruby Rebekah Lodge, presided over by Mrs. Glorie Miller, N.G. and Mrs. Lil Harris, V.G. a farewell gift was presented to Mrs. Lois Hopper. It was reported a gift had been presented to Mrs. Pearl Hiller in Pinewood Court on her 80th birthday. Flowers had been given to sick and bereaved members. The Unknown Friend program has been resum- ed for the coming year. Following the meeting the Christmas party was held, with a program of games and cont- ests, later a distribution of gifts by Old Saint Nick assisted by Mrs. Shirley Brown as jolly elf, and a potluck lunch served from a table decorated in the Christmas theme. When the Schreiber Kinsmen and Kinettes with Jingling bells and gaily-decorated vehicles, arrived at the homes of senior citizens this year with their traditional Christmas box of chocolates, they also pre- sented an infinitely appreciated gift of service. Twelve Kinettes phone numbers were listed, with an offer to drive any of the older people to shop, keep appointments with doctor or dentist, visit hairdresser or barber, to attend church or meet a train or bus.
