Bourke, Branch Service Officer, (who was highly commended by Mr. Wright for widely-know efficiency), and in order, Legion first and auxiliary second: G. A. Nicol, and Mrs. Barbara Ann McLaughlin, president; P. R. Bailey and Mrs. Jean Crook, first Vice President; W. D. McLaughlin and Mrs. Lorraine Huard, second Vice President; L. A. Pourke, secretary-Treasurer for Legion; Mrs. Beatrice McCuaig, Secretary and Mrs. Pat Moore, treasurer for the auxiliary. Legion executive - B. W. Ross, Jim Crook, W. T. Dukes, Wm. Dunham, T. M. Bolan, D. J. Moore, Mrs. Barbara Ann McLaughlin, I. J. Martin, W. H. Moore, and R. A. Saarinen. Auxiliary executive - Mesdames Ethel Nesbitt, Ethel Smith, Lorraine Huard, Barbara Smart, Maureen Costall, and Inez McCuaig. Mr. Wright spoke of the increase in member- ship but, particularly in cities, more can be found, presenting a copy of Legion booklet as well as by-laws when new members are rec- eived, the consideration of the Sons and Daughters membership possibility, the up- dating of the Branch manual, the Provincial Command Bursary -- congratulating Mr. and Mrs. Borden Ross whose daughter Aileen had won this year -, the increasing interest and support of the Northwestern Ontario Sports Foundation, and the dire need of veterans whose meagre living is assisted by Carribean Welfare Fund. Mrs. Paxson commended the auxiliary on its handsome donations to the Branch, and also asked for support of the Carribean Welfare Fund, and, presented a past president's pin to Mrs. Georgina Davis. Mrs. Beth Macadam was presented with a 25 year membership pin. Mrs. Georgina Davis, retiring president of the Ladies auxiliary, after thanking her members for their support and the Legion for its co-operation specifically stated the donations made by the auxiliary this past year: $1300.00 in cash and $2136.74 in furnishings which included a new piano, new fridge, and new drapes. In addition, the auxiliary presented a $100 scholarship in the high school, $62.75 in gifts to McCaus- land Hospital in Terrace Bay, and $25.00 to Pinewood Court in Thunder Bay. 2A single accomplishment was in welcoming fifteen ney members. Mrs. Barbara Ann McLaughlin, the auxiliary new president, spoke briefly. Following the meeting a cabaret dance was enjoyed and the crowd increased to double in number.
