DECEMBER 6, 1972 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 15 SCHREIBER POST OFFICE CONTRACT AWARDED A $106,000 contract, awarded to J. Anderson Cons- truction Ltd. of Thunder Bay, for construction of a post office in Schreiber, Ontario, has been announced by Public Works Minister J. E. Dube. Schreiber is approximately 125 miles east of Thunder Bay on the Trans-Canada Highway . The successful firm submitted the lowest of three tenders, the highest being $116,000. The one-storey, woodframe building will measure 50 by 50 feet on concrete clab on grade and will have a brick veneer exterior finish. Heating will be pro- | vided by means of oil-fired forced warm air. The building will also be air-conditioned. The new post office will have a concrete block foundation, no basement, painted drywall ceiling and walls and vinyl asbestos tile floor. In addition fo landscaping, the facilities to be provided include a frucking yard, concrete entrance way and flagpole . Plans and specifications were prepared by the Fed- eral Department of Public Works. Project manager is Ambrose Moran of the department's regional office in Toronto. $1,850,000 SCHEME RESULTS IN CHARGES BY OPP Completion of the project is scheduled for May, 1973, Following a lengthy investigation by members of the 'Anti-Rackets Branch, assisted by O.P.P. Det- : achments throughout the Province, and consultation with Mr. Clay Powell, Special Prosecutor, Ministry of the Attorney General , charges have been laid and warrants issued for 44 people in Toronto, Kit- chener, Sudbury, North Bay, Orillia, Eastern and Western Canada. Included are 14 warrants issued for individuals residing in the United States of America. Companies involved are: Dare to be Great of Canada Limited Dare to be Great of Canada (1971) Limited Dare to be Great (a division of Koscot Limited) One of the warrants is for Glen W. Turner of Florida who is President of the companies. All charges have been laid under Section 189(1) (a) of the Lottery Section, Criminal Code of Canada, for conducting a scheme involving one million, : eight hundred and fifty thousand dollars. To date, 15 persons have been arrested in Metro Toronto with several warrants outstanding. The accused will appear in Court at the Old City Hall on December 20, 1972.
