Following the meeting, lunch was served by the Topaz social committee. GRAND MASTER VISITS SCHREIBER LODGE Glen Wanamaker of Port Perry, Grand Master of the Oddfellows, paid a visit to the Schreiber Lodge, the meeting starting with a supper in the Anglican Church Hall, the meal provided by the Rebekah Lodge who also attended the meeting. Mrs. Wanamaker accom- panied her husband. Mr. Wanamaker spoke chiefly on the work of C .P.. and T. committee, and the present assistance and in- terest being given to Amethyst House at the Lakehead. He also stressed the importance of the annual youth Pilgrimage to the United Nations, sponsored by both Lodges and the most welcome hot dinner always served by the Schreiber group to the bus load of young people. Among the guests from out of town were James Michael, DDGP; Norman Case, Wilson Stinson, PDD, grand master, Howard Pettit, DDGM and John Van Brunt, NDGM, all of Port Arthur Lodge #244. Gavan, Area Post- master, Thunder Bay, came to present her with a certi- ficate marking her twenty-five years in the Public ser- vice and a pin signifying her twenty-five years' ser- vice in the local post office - there was also a pin in addition to the certificate for the Public Service rec- ord. ' Mr. Gavan paid tribute to Miss Haapa's unfailing courteous service to the public and hoped that she would give more years to this important public pos- ition. Postmaster Russell Macadam and Mrs. Saima Willoughby both spoke of Miss Haapa's efficient and pleasant co-operation in the office. Photo below by I. McCuaig.
