The Schreiber Art Club held their first meeting for the coming season September 11th af the home of Alice Sparkes. Shirley Brown was elected president. McParland, President of the Schreiber Liberal Association to organize for the coming Federal elect= ion. Mr. Keith Penner, Member of Parliament, repre= senting the District of Thunder Bay, will be in Schreiber October 10th, 1972 and there will be a 1Question and Answer' meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Schreiber Town Hall on that evening - Everyone is welcome. The public is reminded to check the polling list in the loca! Post Office to make sure their names are on the enumerator's list. If any name is not shown they will have until October 11th, 1972 to have their named added. The president Mrs. E. Gerow chaired the meeting. Following the opening prayers, she wel comed the members back after a two month recess. The minutes were approved as read and the report on the financial statement was heard. Thank you cards were read and filed. The sale of the money jar tickets were moving favourably . This draw will be made in October. A miscellaneous Bingo was slated to take place on Friday in the community hall. Some excellent prizes are being offered. A discussion was had on the possibility of holding a fall Flea Market. More flowers are fo be purchased for the Church and the flowers in use now to be used in the grotto for the winter. It was decided to have some advice on the repairing of the belfry on the Church. The grass is to be cut once more at the Church this fall. It was reported that the hoses and sprinklers were stored for the winter. Following adjournment a social hour was enjoyed over coffee. I ts back to school for the members of the Opporfun= ity for Youth program. Nine boys and one girl took part in this project. They ware Miss Maxine Hubelit, Robert and Tommy Bouchard, Raymond Goodchild, Danny Legault, Peter Gerow, Albert Ray and Donny Ray who was the captain of the group. They repaired the roof of the Curling Rink, and the School recrea= } tion center, they cleaned up the shoreline fronting in the village, underbrushed and cleaned up the two creeks, cut hay and brush from around the rink, rec reation center, vacant lots, hauled away old cars an other debris and many favourable comments have been made on the work accomplished by the youths. It is hoped that the public will appreciate their efforts and keep the waterfront clean in the future.
