PHIL ESPOSITO LEADS IN VOTING Phil Esposito, a leader in so many ways during his spectacular NHL career is still number one as far as voters in Labatt's Team Canada "best on ice" award are concerned. As ballots flood in from thousands of hockey fans from coast to coast in Canada, the talented Boston Bruin center is leading the power play followed by goal-tending brother, Tony, of the Chicago Black- hawks, and Toronto Maple Leafs' left winger, Paul Henderson. "I guess we have always thought of this country as being hockey conscious" said WF. Read, Presi- dent Labatt's Breweries of Canada, "since this Team Canada/USSR series started, we have shown just how proud we are to be Canadians. The whole country is behind this team" Mr. Read said. Voting for the Labatt's "best on ice" award will continue until midnight October 7th and the Team Canada player receiving the most votes will win a 1973 Ford Mustang Grande. To vote for the player you feel has been the most valuable to Team Canada over the series, send your selection on an official ballot or on a piece of paper to: Box 5050, Station'A', Toronto, Ontario; or Box 5050, Station 126, Montreal, Quebec; or Box 5050, Vancouver 3, British Columbia. FAMILY COUNSELLING Marriage and Family Counselling? What is it really? To many, these words immediately trigger a negative response - "Nobody's going to tell me how to run my life." But a trained counsellor does not see his role as "advise giving," or "telling people how to run their lives". Instead, he sets down with a couple or family to help them identify where they went off the track and then very care- fully helps them develop new ways of identifying problems, communicate effectively, and gives them the tools to build the kind of relationship they had dreamt of and hoped for originally. Many persons who are at first reluctant to come for counselling find very quickly that they can relax since the counsellor does not make it his business to find fault or to establish "who is the guilty party". He knows well enough that people do not intention- ally disrupt a happy situation or deliberately hurt someone they love. When these things happen they are usually indications that something else had al- ready gone wrong - cont'd page 12 .......
