PAGE 12 TERRACE BAY NEWS SEPTEMBER 20, 1972 RUBY REBEKAH PLAN INSTALLATION CEREMONY The regular meeting of Ruby Rebekah Lodge was held Sept.. 13th, with Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, N.G. and Mrs. Glorie Miller, V .G. presiding. Mrs. Beth Macadam presented a report of the District Association meeting held in Thunder Bay. Installation ceremonies will be held on October 11 with officers from Ruby and Topaz Lodges to be in- stalled in a joint ceremony in Schreiber. Mrs. Florence Fischer will convene the dinner which will precede the meeting. The C .P.T. committee will hold a penny auction in the Town Hall on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The monthly home bingo games will be continued under the direction of Mrs. Fischer, Mrs. Alice Sparkes, Mrs. Chris Morris and Mrs. Annie Niemi offered to supply numbers by telephone. Mrs. Hamilton thanked those who had worked at the United Nations Bus Tour luncheon during the summer recess. The vice grand gave a lengthy visiting report of cards, flowers and visits for sick people during the summer recess. A farewell gift was presented to Mrs. Etta Gray whose home is now in Thunder Bay. Tickets will be sold, to be drawn on December 13th = on a hand knitted cape made and donated by Mrs. Andrea Hil | of Toronto. Mrs. Mary Legault gave an interesting account of the proceedings at the Rebekah Assembly held in June in Toronto. A new Bible was presented to the lodge by the family of the late Agnes Sully = Mrs. Mary Legault, Mrs. Jean Plummer and Mrs. Alice McGregor and dedicated in a special service conducted by Mrs. Mavis Slater, Pres. of the Rebekah Assembly, Mrs. Winnie Clemens, Assembly Chaplain, Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, N.G. and Mrs. Della Moore, Ruby Rebekah Chaplain. Members are urged to attend the next meeting on Sept. 27th when initiation ceremonies will be conducted. CONVENERS REPORT AFTER SUMMER RECESS . Mrs. Rita McGrath welcomed the members of the Catholic Women's League back after summer recess to the regular September meeting. Father Meyer gave the opening prayer and Mrs. Rena Ross read the scripture passage. In the absence of Mrs. Phyllis McParland, Mrs. Penny Caccamo read the minutes and correspondence , the latter including a thank you letter from the grade eight graduates in Holy Angels school for the cere- monies arranged in their honour, a thank you from Lola Scott who received the C \W.L. bursary in the high school graduation and an appreciative letter from the Sisters of St. Joseph in North Bay for don- ations sent to their Mission work. Mrs. Rena Ross, Church life convener, reminded members that the Rosary will be said daily at 2 p.m. during October. Mrs. Claire Power, membership convener, report- ed 168 members in the C .W.L. with four honourary ones. Mrs. Lorette McParland, social action convener reported highlights of the town council meeting. A social hour and lunch followed the meeting. Mrs. Penny Caccamo, the general convener, urged members to keep making their donations for the Christmas bazaar tea, on November 4th in the town hall, and remember the Almost-New counter for the Association for the Retarded. Sewing materials may be secured from Mrs. Caccamo and wool for knitting from Mrs. Joyce Jarosz. Mrs. McGrath thanked those who had worked at the annual Fun Day. Following the meeting lunch was served and a social hour enjoyed. SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS Betty McGuire, who spent the past year in France is home visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D'Arcy McGuire. The public library board held its regular meeting on Sept. 15th with Mrs. Norah McGuire presiding. Notice of the book exchange with the regional library was received - on the evening of October 5th. Changing of shelves to accommodate more books was considered and experienced advice will be sought. Book catalogues were studied and a list of books asked for by borrowers was approved. C.W.L.
